  1. 1. Protein complexes in chlorophyll biosynthetic enzymes

    Author : Ragna Peterson Wulff; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; electron microscopy; mass spectrometry; Rhodobacter capsulatus; barley; cyclase; magnesium chelatase; chlorophyll biosynthetic pathway; Protein complex;

    Abstract : Proteins are found on the inside, in the membrane, on the surface and on the outside of cells. They form complicated structures and they interact with other molecules and proteins. READ MORE

  2. 2. A Study on Trypanosomal Polyamine Biosynthetic Enzymes

    Author : Sima Nasizadeh; Biogena aminer; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cell cycle; protein turnover; trypanosomatids; polyamines; Ornithine decarboxylase; S-adenosylmethione decarboxylase; Parasitology human and animal ; Parasitologi människa och djur ;

    Abstract : The polyamines, putrescine, spermidine, and spermine, are essential for all forms of life. The polyamine biosynthetic pathway has been shown to be a potential target for drugs against various trypanosomal parasitic diseases. READ MORE

  3. 3. Imaging of Enzymes in the Steroid Biosynthetic Pathway : Synthesis of 18F-Labelled Tracers

    Author : Maria Erlandsson; Bengt Långström; Franklin Aigbirhio; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; Organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the synthesis and development of 18F-labelled alkyl etomidate and vorozole analogues, and their use as positron emission tomography (PET) tracers for the imaging of the steroid enzymes 11β-hydroxylase and aromatase. Two synthetic 18F-labelling approaches to the etomidate and vorozole analogues were developed, and the analogues were evaluated in some biological assays. READ MORE

  4. 4. Insights into the Evolution of Moth Pheromone Communication: Lessons from the European Corn Borer

    Author : Jean-Marc Lassance; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biosynthetic enzymes; evolution; Ostrinia nubilalis; mate choice; mate finding; olfaction; biosynthesis; speciation; moth; pheromone; olfactory receptors.;

    Abstract : Chemical communication by means of sex pheromones is central to the mating systems of a wide range of organisms. Because reproductive isolation is often based on pheromone differences, understanding how pheromones diverge is necessary for a complete comprehension of the speciation process. READ MORE

  5. 5. Property-controlling Enzymes at the Membrane Interface

    Author : Changrong Ge; Åke Wieslander; Marcelo E. Guerin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; monotopic membrane protein; lipid-protein interaction; membrane curvature; glycosyltransferase; Rossmann fold; Biochemistry; Biokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : Monotopic proteins represent a specialized group of membrane proteins in that they are engaged in biochemical events taking place at the membrane interface. In particular, the monotopic lipid-synthesizing enzymes are able to synthesize amphiphilic lipid products by catalyzing two biochemically distinct molecules (substrates) at the membrane interface.
