  1. 6. Development of 18F- and 68Ga-Labelled Tracers : Design Perspectives and the Search for Faster Synthesis

    Author : Elisabeth Blom; Bengt Långström; Oleksiy Itsenko; Irina Velikyan; Farhad Karimi; Frank Rösch; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PET; nucleophilic 18F-fluorination; perfluoro; F-SPE; molecular design; 68Ga; chelators; DOTA; NOTA; microwave; halogen exchange; harmine; biotin; RGD; VEGF; CRP; Chemistry; Kemi; Organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the design of 18F- and 68Ga-labelled positron emission tomography (PET) tracers and the development of technologies that enable faster and simpler preparation with high specific radioactivity. Techniques like microwave heating and reducing the concentrations of the precursor were investigated with this perspective. READ MORE

    Abstract : The human glucose transporter GLUT1 is abundant in red blood cells, the blood-brain barrier and epithelial cells, where it mediates the transport of the energy metabolite, glucose. In the present work some properties of GLUT1, including affinity binding of both substrates and inhibitors, transport rates as well as permeabilities of aromatic amino acids and drug-membrane interactions were analyzed by chromatographic methods. 4. 9. Enzymatic mechanisms in biotin synthesis : vitamin B6 catalysis and phosphoryl transfer

    Author : Jenny Sandmark; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : X-ray crystallography; biotin biosynthesis; pyridoxal-5 -phosphate; aminotransferase; aluminium fluoride; S-adenosyl-L-methionine; 7; 8-diaminopelargonic acid synthase; dethiobiotin synthetase; biotin; phosphoryl transfer; amiclenomycin.;

    Abstract : With the large number of pathogenic bacteria that have developed antibiotic resistance it is increasingly important to find new targets for antibiotics. Our interest in the biotin biosynthesis pathway originates from this drug design perspective. All organisms require biotin, but it is only synthesised in bacteria, in plants and in some fungi.
