  1. 1. Custom Designed Digital Signal Processors Using Bit-Serial Arithmetic

    Author : Peter Nilsson; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; On-Chip Clocking; Digital IF-Filtering; Digital Wideband Filtering; Elektronik; Electronics; Bit-Serial Arithmetic; CMOS; Custom DSP; VLSI;

    Abstract : This thesis presents two prime contributions. First, digital filters for both intermediate and base band filtering for mobile communication are presented. Second, a local clock for on-chip clock generation is introduced. The intermediate frequency filter is a digital alternative to today's analog filters. READ MORE

  2. 2. Low Power and Low complexity Constant Multiplication using Serial Arithmetic

    Author : Kenny Johansson; Lars Wanhammar; Oscar Gustafsson; Süleyman Demirsoy; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; FIR filters; Computer arithmetic; Multiplication; Addition; Low power; Switching activity; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : The main issue in this thesis is to minimize the energy consumption per operation for the arithmetic parts of DSP circuits, such as digital filters. More specific, the focus is on single- and multiple-constant multiplication using serial arithmetic. The possibility to reduce the complexity and energy consumption is investigated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Low Power and Low Complexity Shift-and-Add Based Computations

    Author : Kenny Johansson; Oscar Gustafsson; Lars Wanhammar; Izzet Kale; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; FIR filters; Function approximation; Digital circuits; Computer arithmetic; Constant multiplication; Addition; Low power; Switching activity estimation; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : The main issue in this thesis is to minimize the energy consumption per operation for the arithmetic parts of DSP circuits, such as digital filters. More specific, the focus is on single- and multiple-constant multiplications, which are realized using shift-and-add based computations. The possibilities to reduce the complexity, i.e. READ MORE

  4. 4. Studies on the Design and Implementation of Digital Filters

    Author : Kent Palmkvist; Iiro Hartimo; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : In this dissertation an efficient approach to design and implement fixed-function, high-speed recursive digital filters is presented. For a recursive algorithm there is an upper bound on the sample frequency of the corresponding implementation. A maximally fast implementation is an implementation with a sample frequency that is equal to this bound. READ MORE

  5. 5. Om implementation of maximally fast wave digital filters

    Author : Mark Vesterbacka; Markuu Renfors; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : An approach to design and implement fixed-function digital filters using bit-serial arithmetic is proposed. The resulting implementations are maximally fast, i.e., the maximal sample frequency fmax is equal to the upper bound on the sample frequency given by the recursive parts of the algorithm. READ MORE
