  1. 1. Strong blast wave interaction with multiphase media

    Author : Sembian Sundarapandian; Nicholas Apazidis; Konstantinos Kontis; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Blast waves; negative pressure; cavitation; blast wave attenuation; RMI; KHI; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Abstract : The interaction of a blast wave propagating in air with different fluids like water column, aqueous foam and thermal/density inhomogeneity have been studied both experimentally and numerically. The blast waves were generated at atmospheric conditions in a newly constructed exploding wire facility. READ MORE

  2. 2. Concrete Structures Subjected to Blast Loading

    Author : Jonas Ekström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; dynamic response; numerical modelling; spalling; blast load; stain-softening; wave propagation; concrete; transverse reverse loading; cyclic crack propagation;

    Abstract : The interest for building safety with regards to highly dynamic events such as close by explosion has accelerated after the recent decades of terrorist attacks. The interest has expanded from civil defence shelters and pure military targets to also include civil buildings used for different civil functions. READ MORE

  3. 3. Explosions in urban environments: Modelling of gas explosions and risk of premature shear failure in reinforced concrete structures

    Author : Fabio José Lozano Mendoza; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; blast strength; urban road environments; computational fluid dynamics; blast loading; Vapour cloud explosions; factorial design; premature shear failure; Monte Carlo method; model uncertainty;

    Abstract : The risk for accidental gas explosions in urban environments has increased in Sweden in recent years. This is due to densification of existing urban centres and the rise of vehicles powered by alternative fuels. READ MORE

  4. 4. Assessment of shear and energy‐absorption capacity of reinforced concrete elements under impulsive loads

    Author : Viktor Peterson; Anders Ansell; Mikael Hallgren; Yanyan Sha; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Impulsive loads; impact; blast; shear reinforcement; shear failure; Betongbyggnad; Concrete Structures;

    Abstract : Impulsive loads have been observed to cause brittle shear failure in reinforced concrete elements designed for ductile failure modes under static loads. Brittle failure modes exhibit poorer energy absorption capabilities compared to ductile flexural failure modes due to their limited deformation capacity, leading to premature failure. READ MORE

  5. 5. A model of gas injection into a blast furnace tuyere

    Author : Per Hellberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; blast furnace; Tuyere; modeling; gas injection; CFD; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE
