1. Learning ecosystem complexity : A study on small-scale fishers’ ecological knowledge generation
Abstract : Small-scale fisheries are learning contexts of importance for generating, transferring, and updating ecological knowledge of natural environments through everyday work practices. The rich knowledge fishers have of local ecosystems is the result of the intimate relationship fishing communities have had with their natural environments across generations (see e. READ MORE

3. Information on recreation and tourism in spatial planning in the Swedish mountains : methods and need for knowledge
Abstract : The Swedish mountain region makes up about one third of the country but includes less than 2 per cent of the population. It stretches for over 1000 km and includes 90 per cent of the total nature conservation area in Sweden. READ MORE

4. On the Fracture of Thin Laminates
Abstract : This thesis concerns mechanical and fracture properties of a thin aluminium foil and polymer laminate that is widely used as packaging material. The possibility of controlling the path of the growing crack propagation by adjustment of the adhesion level and the property of the polymer layer is investigated. READ MORE

5. Theoretical Aspects on Performance Bounds and Fault Tolerance in Parallel Computing
Abstract : This thesis consists of two parts: performance bounds for scheduling algorithms for parallel programs in multiprocessor systems, and recovery schemes for fault tolerant distributed systems when one or more computers go down. In the first part we deliver tight bounds on the ratio for the minimal completion time of a parallel program executed in a parallel system in two scenarios. READ MORE
