1. In vitro Studies of Genodermatoses Affecting Cytoskeletal Integrity and Lipid Processing in Human Epidermis : Pathogenic Mechanisms and Effects of Retinoid Therapy
Abstract : Autosomal dominant epidermolytic ichthyosis (EI) is a rare disease characterized by intra-epidermal blistering due to mutations in either of two keratin genes, KRT1 and KRT10, expressed by suprabasal keratinocytes. Autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis (ARCI) is a non-blistering, hyperkeratotic disease caused by mutations in one of the following genes: ABCA12, ALOX12B, ALOXE3, TGM1, CYP4F22, NIPAL4 and SLC27A4, which are all essential for skin barrier homeostasis. 2. Ionic impacts on solids and sputtering phenomena : experiments in the low-keV region, using optical and collector methods
Abstract : Energetic ions bombarding the surface of a solid result in a manifold of processes. An ion with sufficient energy can penetrate into the solid. The slowing-down process represents a transfer of energy to the lattice atoms. Part of this energy is deposited on the target surface and may result in sputtering, the release of particles from the target. READ MORE

3. Polysaccharide-based wood adhesives
Abstract : It is highly desirable to increase the use of renewable resources and reduce fossil-dependence due to sustainability concerns. As a consequence, it is expected that the use of the wood-based materials will increase in the future. Therefore, adhesives will have an important role since they allow for the use of lower-quality and recycled wood. READ MORE

4. Mechanisms of Blister Formation on Concrete Bridge Decks with Waterprooving Asphalt Pavement Systems
Abstract : Bridge decks are commonly subjected to harsh environmental conditions that often lead to serious corrosion problems triggered by blisters under the hot mix asphalt bridge deck surfacing and secretly evolving during weather exposure until damage is often detected too late. Blisters may form under both the waterproofing dense mastic asphalt layer or under the waterproofing membrane which is often applied as additional water protection under the mastic asphalt (MA). 5. Towards the safe-IOCOS relation -- On testing and correction of errors in an implementation to ensure safety
Abstract : The technological advancement that has occurred at a blistering pace in the past decades has enabled manufacturing companies to conceive innovative products. However, to meet growing demands of consumers, manufacturing companies are expected to maintain a steady production rate without compromising product quality. READ MORE
