1. Mixed Block Copolymer Solutions: Self-Assembly and Interactions
Abstract : This thesis incorporates studies on the aqueous systems of two types of thermoresponsive amphiphilic block copolymers; a series of nonionic triblock copolymers comprising blocks of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) denoted as PEO-PPO-PEO block copolymers, and a series of ionic diblock copolymers consisting of one charged block and one block of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAM). Various techniques, such as dynamic and static light scattering (DLS and SLS), small angle X-ray and neutron scattering (SAXS and SANS), high sensitivity differential scanning calorimetry (HSDSC), turbidimetry, electrophoretic mobility measurements, and two-dimensional proton NMR nuclear Overhauser effect spectroscopy (2D 1H NMR NOESY), were applied to study these block copolymer systems. 2. Intrinsically Proton-Conducting Benzimidazole Units Tethered to Different Polymer Chain Architectures
Abstract : Proton transport is a fundamental process that can be found in many systems in nature, as well as in technical devices, such as fuel cells, electrochromic devices and various types of sensors. Fuel cell technology is considered as environmentally friendly because fuel cells are not limited by the Carnot cycle, and efficiently converts chemical energy into electrical energy which can be used for powering cars, laptops, buildings etc. READ MORE

3. Self-assembly in Melts of Block copolymer-based Systems Featuring Supramolecular Interactions
Abstract : The subject of this thesis is experimental investigation of self-assembly in solvent-free (ionic) macromolecular systems that contain block copolymer chains as the basic constituent component in combination with low molecular weight amphiphiles. In particular, especial attention is paid to study thoroughly a new class of block copolymer-based ionic supramolecules, named as Linear-b-AmphComb, that feature novel hierarchical self-assembly characteristics. 4. Adsorption behaviour of bottle-brush and block copolymers at solid-liquid interfaces
Abstract : This thesis was spurred on by needs of current scientific and technological developments in the area of surface modification by use of adsorbed polymer layers. The importance of surface properties of polymer layers can be imparted in a broad spectrum of interfacial-related applications like lubrication, colloidal stability, detergency, and protein resistant surfaces, to just mention a few. 5. Contribution to development of a secured traceability system for textile and clothing supply chain
Abstract : Secured traceability implies not only the ability to identify, capture, and share required information on product transformation throughout the supply chain (SC), but also the ability to ensure the security of the traceability data. Due to information asymmetry and lack of transparency, textile and clothing (T&C) industries often face challenges in implementing and maintaining sufficient traceability. READ MORE
