11. Assessment of eosinophil degranulation in allergic diseases and experimental models
Abstract : In allergic disorders, the eosinophilic granulocytes migrate to affected tissues and release granule proteins with cytotoxic, immunoregulatory, and remodeling-promoting properties. Given that degranulation is reflected by a loss in eosinophil granule density of living cells, or by cell membrane rupture and release of intact granules, these morphological changes may represent a biomarker of the allergic disease. 12. Splanchnic circulation in cardiac surgery
Abstract : The studies addressed different techniques of monitoring hepatic and splanchnic blood flow (SBF) during open heart surgery. Calculations of gastric mucosal pH (pHi) using tonometry was performed in 72 patients, and the effect of dopaminergic stimulation on pH1 was studied in 33 patients. READ MORE

14. Cooling and dopamine
Abstract : There is little knowledge about the circulatory effects of dopamine in hypothermia. Induced hypothermia has been shown to improve outcome in various settings. Hypothermia is also used for preservation of organs that are harvested for transplantation. READ MORE

15. Endogenous activators of the pain receptor TRPV1 From cell to man
Abstract : N-acylethanolamines (NAEs) belong to a growing family of endogenous signalling molecules acting on a variety of receptors and ion channels. In 1992, it was reported that the N-acylethanolamine anandamide is present in the brain and activates the central cannabinoid (CB) receptor. READ MORE
