1. Blood Flow in Human Skeletal Muscle : The Effect of Adrenaline and the Influence of a Small Muscle Injury
Abstract : A variety of vasoregulatory systems are involved in the complex control of blood flow inhuman skeletal muscle. The interaction between these systems where one system canoverride or modify the other makes blood flow regulation complicated. READ MORE

2. Identification and characterisation of SMIM1 variants determining the Vel blood group
Abstract : The Vel blood group antigen is present on red blood cells from all humans except rare Vel-negative individuals, who can form antibodies to Vel in response to transfusion or pregnancy. It was first described in 1952 as a high incidence antigen, while the molecular background was recently discovered to be a 17-bp deletion in Small Integral Membrane Protein 1, that causes a frame-shift mutation and abolishes SMIM1 expression, thus creating a Vel-negative phenotype. 3. Phosphatidylethanol - formation and degradation in blood and organs
Abstract : Phosphatidylethanol (PEth) is an abnormal phospholipid formed exclusively by the action of phospholipase D (PLD) in the presence of ethanol. The degradation of PEth is slow and due to its accumulation in some cells the possibility to use PEth as marker of ethanol intake has been proposed. READ MORE

4. Molecular Genetic Studies of the Blood Group ABO Locus in Man
Abstract : The ABO blood group system is undoubtedly the most important genetic and phenotypic marker in clinical transfusion medicine. The A and B determinants are immunodominant, terminally located carbohydrate residues of glycoconjugates on erythrocytes and other cell surfaces. READ MORE

5. Heritability of blood pressure: monogenes and polygenes
Abstract : High blood pressure (BP) is associated with cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Both genetic and environmental factors are implicated in BP homeostatsis and hypertension development. READ MORE
