  1. 1. Bystander CPR : New aspects of CPR training among students and the importance of bystander education level on survival

    Author : Anette Nord; Lennart Nilsson; Leif Svensson; Susanne Kreitz-Sandberg; Håkan Hult; Jörg Carlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; CPR; CPR training; BLS; Laymen; Bystander CPR; Students; Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest; Cardiac arrest; Mobile application; DVD; Feedback; Reflection; Web course; Cardiff test; Myocardial infarction; Stroke; Lifestyle factors; Elite athletes; Willingness; Survival; HLR; HLR-utbildning; Lekman; Högstadieelever; Hjärtstopp; Webutbildning; Dvd; Mobil applikation; Återkoppling; Reflektion; Cardiff test; Hjärtinfarkt; Stroke; Levnadsvanor; Elitidrottare; Motivation; Överlevnad;

    Abstract : Background: It has been proved that bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) saves lives; however, which training method in CPR is most instructive and whether survival is affected by the training level of the bystander have not yet been fully described. Aim: To identify the factors that may affect 7th grade students’ acquisition of CPR skills during CPR training and their willingness to act, and to describe 30-day survival from outof- hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) after bystander CPR and the actions performed by laymen versus off-duty medically educated personnel. 2. 2. Modeling and Control of Bilinear Systems : Application to the Activated Sludge Process

    Author : Mats Ekman; Bengt Carlsson; Claes Breitholtz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; bilinear systems; modeling; optimal control; parameter estimation; errors-in-variables; activated sludge process; Automatic control; Reglerteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns modeling and control of bilinear systems (BLS). BLS are linear but not jointly linear in state and control. In the first part of the thesis, a background to BLS and their applications to modeling and control is given. READ MORE

  3. 3. Learning aspects of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and learning activities in basic life support - a study among laypersons at workplaces in Sweden

    Author : Helene Bylow; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adult; Automated external defibrillation; Basic life support; Cardiff Test; Cardiopulmonary resuscitation; Cardiovascular disease; Confidence; Experiential learning; Feedback; Instructor-led learning; Layperson; Learning; Mobile application; Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest; Reflection; Survival; Self-learning; Training; Web-based education; Willingness;

    Abstract : Abstract Background: Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Despite healthcare improvements, prevention for cardiovascular health, training in adult basic life support (BLS) with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillation (AED), together with increased public awareness of cardiovascular disease, survival from OHCA still remains poor. 4. 4. Leg length discrepancy and femoral offset after total hip arthroplasty : clinical and radiological studies

    Author : Sarwar Mahmood; Arkan Sayed-Noor; Sead Crnalic; Gösta Ullmark; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; Total hip arthroplasty; leg flength discrepancy; femoral offset; WOMAC; quality of life; complication; radiographic measurements; acetabular cup; inclination; anteversion; Orthopaedics; ortopedi;

    Abstract : Every year, about 1 million patients worldwide and 16000 patients in Sweden undergo total hip arthroplasty (THA). This surgical intervention is considered a successful, safe and cost-effective procedure to regain pain-free mobility and restore hip joint function in patients suffering from severe hip joint disease or trauma. 5. 5. A Play of Light and Spins: Excitation and Detection of Non-linear Magnetization Dynamics using Light

    Author : Shreyas Muralidhar; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : spin waves; laser-induced magnetization dynamics; Brillouin light scattering; Spin Hall nano-oscillators; neuromorphic computing; Ising machines;

    Abstract : The excitation and detection of magnetization dynamics play key roles in the field of spintronics and magnonics. In this thesis, we investigate a contactless method of exciting nonlinear magnetization dynamics using a femtosecond pulsed laser, and study the same with a Brillouin Light Scattering (BLS) microscope.
