16. Corrosion of steel bars in fibre reinforced concrete: corrosion mechanisms and structural performance
Abstract : The viability of employing fibre reinforcement to improve the durability performance of RC structures by delaying and/or reducing rebar corrosion and by mitigating the structural impact of corrosion-induced damage have been investigated. Given the enhanced crack control of FRC, it could be advantageous to use fibres in civil engineering structures to decrease the ingress of corrosion-initiation substances. READ MORE

17. Assessment of fatigue resistance and strength in existing concrete structures
Abstract : During the last few decades, it has become more and more important to assess, maintain and strengthen structures like bridges, dams and buildings. This is mainly due to the fact that: (a) many structures are getting old and many have started to deteriorate, (b) there is sometimes a need to increase the load carrying capacity of an existing structure due to e. 18. Control of Cracking due to Imposed Strains in Concrete Structures
Abstract : This thesis is concerned with crack control due to imposed deformations in concrete structures. The objective of crack control may either be to prevent cracking or to limit the crack widths. The aim here is to increase the knowledge in both fields for some common structures. Five papers are included and the three last concern crack development. READ MORE

19. Fracture mechanics analysis of concrete structures
Abstract : This thesis presents results from numerical and analytical analyses of concrete structures as well as results from laboratory tests. Numerical methods based on the finite element method and fracture mechanics are used. The thesis comprises five papers and a general introductory part. READ MORE

20. Usability of Textile Reinforced Concrete: Structural Performance, Durability and Sustainability
Abstract : Textile reinforced concrete (TRC) is an innovative high performance composite material consisting of open multi-axial textiles embedded in a fine-grained concrete matrix. Despite the fact that TRC-based research has revealed many promising attributes, it has yet to reach its recognition due to a lack of available design tools, standards and long-term behaviour.
