  1. 6. Three-Dimensional Modelling of Bond in Reinforced Concrete Theoretical Model, Experiments and Applications

    Author : Karin Lundgren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; three-dimensional analysis; splitting effects; bond; finite element analysis; reinforced concrete; pull-out tests; non-linear fracture mechanics; frame corners; splicing of reinforcement; cyclic loading;

    Abstract : The bond mechanism between deformed bars and concrete is known to be influenced by multiple parameters, such as the strength of the surrounding structure, the occurrence of splitting cracks in the concrete and the yielding of the reinforcement. However, when reinforced concrete structures are analysed using the finite element method, it is quite common to assume that the bond stress depends solely on the slip. READ MORE

  2. 7. A theory of bond applied to overlapped tensile reinforcement splices for deformed bars

    Author : Ralejs Tepfers; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Concrete; splitting failures; confinement; deformed bars; tensile overlap splices; bond theory; fatigue; concrete cover splitting; reinforcement;

    Abstract : A bond theory for deformed reinforcing bars in concrete is elaborated taking into account different stages in development of final rupture occurring as splitting or pull-out. The concrete cover splitting resistance is modelled for a thick-walled concrete ring in elastic and plastic stages. Different final possible failure modes are analysed. READ MORE

  3. 8. Design of concrete pavements : design criteria for plain and lean concrete

    Author : Johan Söderqvist; Johan Silfwerbrand; Anders Lenngren; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : New road infrastructure projects are important and constitute of large investments that have to serve the society for a long time. The investments have to be durable at the lowest life cycle cost and the pavements have to sustain loads from increasing traffic intensity and heavy traffic loads. READ MORE

  4. 9. Cracking in concrete : crack prevention with air-cooling and crack distribution with steel fibre reinforcement

    Author : Patrik Groth; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : This Licentiate Thesis consists of four parts. The first two parts, paper A and B, deal with air-cooling by means of embedded pipes in order to reduce thermal cracking in concrete structures. These two papers are submitted for publication to RILEM Journal; ‘Materials and Structures'. READ MORE

  5. 10. Load-Carrying Capacity of Damaged Concrete Structures

    Author : Kamyab Zandi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; frost; bond properties; material properties.; Existing concrete structures; load-carrying capacity; corrosion of reinforcement;

    Abstract : AbstractA growing need for better assessment of existing structures has revealed the need for improved understanding of structural effects of deterioration. The two most common causes of deterioration in concrete structures are corrosion of reinforcement and freezing of concrete. READ MORE
