1. Musculoskeletal Development in Jawed Vertebrates : Gene function, cis-regulation, and 3D phenotypes in zebrafish
Abstract : Vertebrate skeletons are an intricate framework of bony and cartilaginous structures that form through carefully orchestrated developmental processes, guided by interacting genetic pathways that regulate cellular differentiation, migration, and tissue morphogenesis. The specific timing and localisation of gene expression shapes the diverse array of skeletal elements, from the flexible cartilages of the embryonic stage to the hardened bones that provide structural support in adulthood, and the joints and connective tissues that articulate the musculoskeletal system. 2. Clavicular Fractures, Epidemiology, Union, Malunion, Nonunion
Abstract : During a three-year period (1989-91), all patients living in the county of Uppsala, Sweden, with a radiographically verified fracture of the clavicle were prospectively, consecutively followed (n=245). The epidemiological study (I) was restricted to the two first years with 187 fractures in185 patients. READ MORE

3. Urocortins in the zebrafish brain and redox regulation of embryonic development through glutaredoxins
Abstract : The cellular redox state is a central regulator of embryonic development. Redox homeostasis and thiol redox signaling are modulated through glutaredoxins (Grxs), glutathione dependent thiol-disulfide oxidoreductases. Grxs can reduce protein disulfides and protein-glutathione mixed disulfides (de-glutathionylation) via distinct reaction mechanisms. READ MORE

4. Clinical and experimental studies on total hip arthroplasty
Abstract : In a 12-year follow-up study, a low-friction, metal-on-plastic hip prosthetic system (Charnley) was compared with a high-friction, metal-on-metal prosthetic system (McKeeFarrar) in a consecutive series of 169 patients, mean age 67 at the start. Satisfactory results were reported in 92 percent of the patients. READ MORE

5. On approaches to periodontal infection control
Abstract : The purpose of the project was to gain understanding of clinical possibilities and applicability of non-surgical periodontal therapy. A clinical study was designed to compare a full-mouth ultrasonic debridement approach with the traditional approach of consecutive sessions of quadrant-wise scaling/root planing with respect to the clinical outcome and long term stability.
