1. Resistance and recolonization of bryophyte assemblages following disturbances : - detecting patterns and exploring mechanisms
Abstract : Disturbances are ubiquitous features of most northern forest ecosystems. The subsequent response of plant assemblages on both short (resistance or not) and long term (recolonization or not) will depend on a number of factors operating at several spatial scales. READ MORE

2. Physical properties of coarse particles in till coupled to bedrock composition based on new 3D image analysis method
Abstract : The physical properties of the coarse fraction of the till (0.4 to 20 cm) and the surface boulders have been studied at two different sites in Sweden. READ MORE

3. Palaeoglaciology of the northeastern Tibetan Plateau
Abstract : This study concerns the palaeoglaciation of the northeastern Tibetan Plateau, with emphasis on the Bayan Har Shan (Shan = Mountain) in the headwaters of Huang He (Yellow River). To reconstruct past glacier development multiple techniques, including remote sensing, field investigations, cosmogenic exposure dating, and numerical modelling have been employed. READ MORE

4. Late Quaternary ice sheet history and dynamics in central and southern Scandinavia
Abstract : Recent work suggests an emerging new paradigm for the Scandinavian ice sheet (SIS); one of a dynamically fluctuating ice sheet. This doctoral research project explicitly examines the history and dynamics of the SIS at four sites within Sweden and Norway, and provides results covering different time periods of glacial history. 5. Automation of Load Haul Dump machines : comparative performance analysis and maintenance modeling
Abstract : The Load Haul Dump (LHD) machine and its operating environment create a complex system. Mine productivity depends on the operation of the LHDs and on the mining environment, including fragmentation, size of boulders, navigation techniques etc. Traditional navigation techniques require a lot of infrastructure to accommodate automatic operation.
