  1. 1. Polymers in Aqueous Lubrication

    Author : Junxue An; Per M. Claesson; Martin Malsten; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lubrication; boundary lubrication; friction; surface forces; adsorption; adsorption hysteresis; non-equilibrium state; diblock copolymer; polyelectrolyte; thermoresponsive; mucin; QCM-D; ellipsometry; AFM; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The main objective of this thesis work was to gain understanding of the layer properties and polymer structures that were able to aid lubrication in aqueous media. To this end, three types of polyelectrolytes: a diblock copolymer, a train-of-brushes and two brush-with-anchor mucins have been utilized. READ MORE

  2. 2. Rough surfaces in contact : artificial intelligence and boundary lubrication

    Author : Marco Rapetto; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine Elements; Maskinelement;

    Abstract : Interacting surfaces are found in mechanical systems and components. Since engineered surfaces are not perfectly smooth, only a fraction of the nominal surface area is actually in contact. This fraction is denoted as the real area of contact, Ar, and is formed by the sum of the contact spots between the two touching surfaces. READ MORE

  3. 3. Formation and failure of boundary layers in mixed and boundary lubricated sliding contacts

    Author : Senad Dizdar; KTH; []
    Keywords : Spherical roller thrust bearings; Lubrication; Friction;

  4. 4. Boundary lubrication in screw-nut transmissions

    Author : Lars O. Ekerfors; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : This report deals with the function of screw-nut transmissions (powerscrews). Two aspects of this function have been investigated. Owing to different running parameters, primarily sliding speed and average pressure between the sliding surfaces of the thread, the coefficient of friction and the efficiency will vary within wide limits. 5. 5. Effects of methanol on engine lubrication and wear

    Author : Bengt Olsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tribology; methanol-fuelled engine; wear; antiwear additive; boundary lubrication;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE
