1. Rough surfaces in contact : artificial intelligence and boundary lubrication
Abstract : Interacting surfaces are found in mechanical systems and components. Since engineered surfaces are not perfectly smooth, only a fraction of the nominal surface area is actually in contact. This fraction is denoted as the real area of contact, Ar, and is formed by the sum of the contact spots between the two touching surfaces. READ MORE

2. Boundary lubrication in screw-nut transmissions
Abstract : This report deals with the function of screw-nut transmissions (powerscrews). Two aspects of this function have been investigated. Owing to different running parameters, primarily sliding speed and average pressure between the sliding surfaces of the thread, the coefficient of friction and the efficiency will vary within wide limits. 3. EAL's boundary lubrication performance in hydro power plants
Abstract : This licentiate thesis concerns the possibility to change mineral based hydraulic fluid to environmentally adapted lubricants (EAL's) in water turbine applications from the point of view of boundary lubrication. A new test rig was designed to meet the conditions for a slow and/or intermittent motion journal bearing. READ MORE

4. The Friction between Paper Surfaces
Abstract : The main objective for the work described in this PhD thesiswas to formulate a friction model to characterize thefrictional behavior of paper. More specifically, the modelshould explain a phenomenon that is typical for paper grades, viz.: that the level of paper-to-paper friction is dependent onthe direction and the number of previous slides. 5. Polymers in Aqueous Lubrication
Abstract : The main objective of this thesis work was to gain understanding of the layer properties and polymer structures that were able to aid lubrication in aqueous media. To this end, three types of polyelectrolytes: a diblock copolymer, a train-of-brushes and two brush-with-anchor mucins have been utilized. READ MORE
