  1. 6. Reliability analysis of Load-Haul-Dump machines

    Author : Uday Kumar; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Drift och underhållsteknik; Operation and Maintenance;

    Abstract : Today, maintaining a mining equipment is an expensive affair. The two factors which influence significantly the occurrences of breakdowns are the operating reliability of equipment and the related human factors. READ MORE

  2. 7. Regional Lung Mechanics and Influence of an Active Diaphragm in Experimental Lung Injury

    Author : Mariangela Pellegrini; Anders Sune Larsson; Göran Hedenstierna; Michael Quintel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acute respiratory distress syndrome; artificial respiration; diaphragm; pulmonary atelectasis; lung imaging; respiratory system; animal model; Fysiologi; Physiology; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Abstract : Despite being an essential life-support strategy in severe respiratory failure, mechanical ventilation can, if not optimally set and monitored, lead to injury of the lung parenchyma and diaphragm. These conditions are called ventilator-induced lung injury and ventilator-induced diaphragmatic dysfunction (VIDD), respectively. READ MORE

  3. 8. On Derailment-Worthiness in Rail Vehicle Design : Analysis of vehicle features influencing derailment processes and consequences

    Author : Dan Brabie; Evert Andersson; Roderick A Smith; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; derailment; bogie design; wheel-sleeper impact; simulation; deviation; vehicle inter-connection; guidance mechanism; substitute guidance; articulated train; railway safety; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis aims at systematically studying the possibilities of minimizing devastating consequences of high-speed rail vehicle derailments by appropriate measures and features in the train design including the running gear. Firstly, an empirical database is established containing as much relevant information as possible of past incidents and accidents that have occurred at substantial running speeds due to mechanical failure close to the interface between the running gear and the track.
