1. Noninvasive characterization of patients with monomorphic ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation using the signal-averaged electrocardiogram. A study on late potentials and spectral turbulence in patients with ischemic heart disease and in healthy subjects
Abstract : Many people die suddenly from sustained ventricular tachyarrhythmias caused by ischemic heart disease, and the sudden death may be the first presentation of heart disease. If the patients at risk of ventricular tachyarrhythmia could be identified, some patients may be saved. READ MORE

2. NMR spectroscopy and MD simulations of carbohydrates
Abstract : Knowledge about the structure, conformation and dynamics of carbohydrates is important in our understanding of the way carbohydrates function in biological systems, for example in intermolecular signaling and recognition. This thesis is a summary of five papers studying these properties in carbohydrate-containing molecules with NMR spectroscopy and molecular dynamics simulations. READ MORE

3. Retinal Vein Occlusion A clinical study of electrophysiology, certain prognostic factors and treatment
Abstract : The influence of the factor V Leiden mutation on the development of neovascular complications in central retinal vein occlusion was studied. The presence of the mutation was found to enhance the risk of developing neovascular complications almost threefold compared to in patients without the mutation. READ MORE

4. Microstructure and Thermal Degradation of PVC with Improved Thermal Stability
Abstract : Although the low thermal stability of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) has been an area of intensive research, the relation between microstructure and degradation behaviour is still not fully understood. This thesis deals with the structure, thermal degradation and modification of ordinary PVC. READ MORE

5. Evolutionary Perspectives on Naidinae (Annelida, Clitellata, Naididae): Molecular and Morphological Revelations
Abstract : Naidinae is a group of tiny oligochaetous clitellates, common all over the world, primarily in freshwater. The taxon includes about 180 nominal species. READ MORE
