2. Cardiac and pulmonary side-effects of radiotherapy in early breast cancer
Abstract : The purpose of this thesis was to study early and late side-effects to lung and heart in adjuvant locoregionalradiation therapy (LRRT) of early breast cancer (BC). Papers I-III were intervention studies aiming to reduce symptomatic/ radiological pneumonitis and functional changes after LRRT by applyingthe ipsilateral lung dose volume constraint V20 ≤ 30 %. 3. Predictors of Lymph Node Metastasis in Primary Breast Cancer - Risk Models for Tailored Axillary Management
Abstract : Most patients with breast cancer present with low-risk tumors, node-negative disease, and excellent prognosis. For these patients, routine axillary nodal staging by sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) has no therapeutic benefit. For patients with limited sentinel lymph node metastasis, completion axillary nodal dissection is controversial. READ MORE

4. Short-term pulmonary side-effects following radiation therapy in breast cancer
Abstract : The purpose of this dissertation was to study the short-term pulmonary side-effects following adjuvant radiotherapy for breast cancer in terms of clinical pulmonary complications, loss of pulmonary function and radiological abnormalities, and the association to irradiated lung volume and dose. Furthermore, we wanted to estimate the influence of covariates, e. READ MORE

5. DNA flow cytometry of cytokeratin selected breast cancer cells as prognostic indicator
Abstract : DNA flow cytometry is used for the estimation of cell proliferation (S-phase fraction) and abnormalities in cellular DNA content (DNA ploidy), parameters which yield prognostic information in breast carcinomas. However, stromal, inflammatory, and residual non-neoplastic epithelial cells overlap cancer cells in the DNA histogram and complicate the calculation of DNA ploidy and S-phase fraction. READ MORE
