  1. 1. The Value of Preoperative MRI in Breast Cancer Treatment

    Author : Virginia Gonzalez; Staffan Eriksson; Sophia Zackrissson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : preoperative breast MRI; breast cancer; breast-conserving surgery; Surgery; Kirurgi; Oncology; Onkologi; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : Breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) remains controversial as an image adjunct in preoperative settings in terms of short-term benefits and there are no survival data from randomized studies. This prospective, randomized, multicentre study included 440 patients (age ≤ 56 y) with breast cancer from three large-volume Swedish breast clinics. READ MORE

  2. 2. Sentinel Node Biopsy for Breast Cancer : Aspects and evolution

    Author : Andreas Karakatsanis; Fredrik Wärnberg; Peter Stålberg; Helena Olofsson; Lisa Rydén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Breast Cancer; Sentinel Node Biopsy; Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide;

    Abstract : Sentinel Node Biopsy (SNB) in clinical practice was pivotal to the shaping of modern diagnosis, staging and treatment of patients with breast cancer. The use of radioisotope (RI) and blue dye (BD) has led to high detection rates with low false negatives, but delivery-of-care limitations connected to these tracers as well as the need for methods addressing new clinical conundrums delineates the urge for new tracers with comparable performance, easier logistics and, ideally expanded implementations. 3. 3. Modern Staging in Primary Breast Cancer-aspects of micrometastatic disease in bone marrow and molecular profiles in lymph node metastases

    Author : Anna-Karin Falck; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; breast cancer; biomarker expression; lymph node metastases; relapse; molecular subtype classification; disseminated tumour cells; bone marrow; prognosis; mode of detection;

    Abstract : Breast cancer is a heterogeneous disease with variations in the biological profile and subsequent clinical prognosis. Molecular mechanisms for tumour progression are currently being explored in scientific settings, suggesting parallel evolution of tumour cells at primary and metastatic locations. READ MORE

  4. 4. HER2-receptor quantification in breast cancer patients by imaging with ABY-025 Affibody and PET

    Author : Ali Alhuseinalkhudhur; Henrik Lindman; Jens Sörensen; Mark Lubberink; Irina Velikyan; Rimma Axelsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PET; Breast cancer; HER2; Affibody; ABY-025; Molecular imaging; Kinetic modelling; Brain metastasis;

    Abstract : Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women worldwide. Human epidermal growth factor receptor type 2 (HER2) is overexpressed in up to 20% of breast cancer cases and is considered an important prognostic factor and a therapeutic target. READ MORE

  5. 5. Predictors of Lymph Node Metastasis in Primary Breast Cancer - Risk Models for Tailored Axillary Management

    Author : Looket Dihge; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast Cancer; Axillary lymph node dissection; Sentinel lymph node biopsy; Ultrasonography; Nomogram; Artificial neural network; Gene Expression; Prediction model;

    Abstract : Most patients with breast cancer present with low-risk tumors, node-negative disease, and excellent prognosis. For these patients, routine axillary nodal staging by sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) has no therapeutic benefit. For patients with limited sentinel lymph node metastasis, completion axillary nodal dissection is controversial. READ MORE
