  1. 16. Aspects of precipitation in alloy Inconel 718

    Author : Saied Azadian; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materialteknik; Engineering Materials;

    Abstract : A study was made of the microstructure of the Ni-base alloy Inconel 718 with emphasis on the precipitation and stability of intermetallic phases as affected by heat treatments. In addition the effect of the precipitation on selected mechanical properties namely hardness, creep notch sensitivity and hot ductlity were investigated. READ MORE

  2. 17. Deformation Behaviour of Near Fully Pearlitic Railway Steels During Monotonic and Cyclic Loading

    Author : Niklas Köppen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LCF; low cycle fatigue; Near fully pearlitic steels; work hardening; microstructure; tensile deformation; medium carbon steel;

    Abstract : The main conclusions that could be drawn from the present work are that the deformation behaviour of fully and near fully pearlitic steels is very similar and that a combination of low temperature, prestraining and high deformation rates is critical for the performance. This was shown from microscopy studies, tensile, impact and low cycle fatigue (LCF) testing. READ MORE

  3. 18. Radiation Induced Precipitation in Reactor Pressure Vessel Steel Welds

    Author : Kristina Lindgren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; precipitation; irradiation damage; low alloy steel; reactor pressure vessel; atom probe tomography;

    Abstract : Radiation induced clustering and precipitation affect the mechanical properties of the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) of a nuclear power plant, i.e. the material becomes embritteled. The combination of low Cu (0. READ MORE

  4. 19. Role of alloying elements in Mo5Si3 intermetallics

    Author : Erik Ström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; microhardness; silicide; alloying; ternary; intermetallic; Laves; hardness; high temperature material; Mo5Si3;

    Abstract : The role of alloying elements in the intermetallic compound Mo5Si3 was studied in the alloying systems Mo5-xMxSi3 (M = Cr, Ti, Nb, Ni, or Co, x = 0.5-2). The effects of the alloying elements were examined by characterising the microstructures and identifying the resulting phases. In the case of Cr and Nb alloying, a solubility of 25% (at. READ MORE

  5. 20. Anisotropic mechanical behaviors and microstructural evolution of thin-walled additively manufactured metals

    Author : Cheng-Han Yu; Johan Moverare; Ru Lin Peng; Joe Kelleher; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hot tensile testing; slow strain rate tensile testing; creep; anisotropy; crystallographic texture evolution; deformation twinning; Varmdragprov; Dragprov med låg töjningshastighet; kryp; anisotropi; kristallografisk textur; deformationstvillingar;

    Abstract : Additive manufacturing (AM), also known as 3D printing, is a concept and method of a manufacturing process that builds a three-dimensional object layer-by-layer. Opposite to the conventional subtractive manufacturing, it conquers various limitations on component design freedom and raises interest in various fields, including aerospace, automotive and medical applications.
