1. Volterra Modeling and Estimation of the Human Smooth Pursuit
Abstract : This thesis treats the mathematical modeling of the human smooth pursuit system using Volterra-Laguerre models. The smooth pursuit system allows for tracking of moving objects. Since it is a complex system including the muscles of the eye, nerves and certain parts of the brain, the system may be impaired if some part is compromised. READ MORE

2. Volterra modeling of the human smooth pursuit system in health and disease
Abstract : This thesis treats the identification of Volterra models of the human smooth pursuit system from eye-tracking data. Smooth pursuit movements are gaze movements used in tracking of moving targets and controlled by a complex biological network involving the eyes and brain. READ MORE

3. Ancient genomics of Baltic seals : Insights on the past Baltic grey seal and harp seal populations
Abstract : This thesis aims to study and describe the ancient populations of grey and harp seals in the Baltic Sea, and to present new methodological approaches for general use in ancient DNA studies. The dissertation is comprised of five studies: a review of the use of paleogenetics in studying ancient human-marine mammal interactions; a method paper investigating patterns of DNA preservation in ancient pinniped samples; a method paper presenting a genetic sex identification method for ancient pinnipeds; a population genomic study of the Baltic grey seal; and a population genomic study of the now extinct Baltic harp seal. 5. Bidding in Combinatorial Auctions
Abstract : This thesis concerns the interdisciplinary field of combinatorial auctions, combining the fields of computer science, optimization and economics. A combinatorial auction is an auction where many items are sold simultaneously and where bidders may submit indivisible combinatorial bids on groups of items. READ MORE
