  1. 1. Downlink Resource Allocation in Cooperative Wireless Networks

    Author : Jingya Li; [2015]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; precoding design; load balancing; relaying; imperfect channel state information; imperfect synchronization; Coordinated multi-point transmission; I Q imbalance; resource allocation; fractional frequency reuse;

    Abstract : Wireless cooperative networks, which is based on exploiting coordination among multiple access nodes, has been considered as a promising approach to improve the spectral efficiency, reduce the energy consumption, and extend the network coverage of future wireless communication systems. In practice, the actual benefit of multi-node cooperation is affected by a variety of factors, including the quality of channel state information (CSI), the constraints on the feedback and backhaul links, hardware impairments, resource allocation and data processing schemes. 2. 2. Dynamic Resampling for Preference-based Evolutionary Multi-objective Optimization of Stochastic Systems Improving the efficiency of time-constrained optimization

    University dissertation from Skövde : Högskolan i Skövde

    Author : Florian Siegmund; Högskolan i Skövde.; Högskolan i Skövde.; [2016]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Evolutionary multi-objective optimization; simulation-based optimization; guided search; preference-based optimization; reference point; decision support; noise; stochastic systems; dynamic resampling; budget allocation; sequential sampling; hybrid; ranking and selection; Natural sciences; Naturvetenskap; Technology; Teknik; Production and Automation Engineering; Produktion och automatiseringsteknik;

    Abstract : In preference-based Evolutionary Multi-objective Optimization (EMO), the decision maker is looking for a diverse, but locally focused non-dominated front in a preferred area of the objective space, as close as possible to the true Pareto-front. Since solutions found outside the area of interest are considered less important or even irrelevant, the optimization can focus its efforts on the preferred area and find the solutions that the decision maker is looking for more quickly, i. 3. 3. Autonomous cloud resource provisioning accounting, allocation, and performance control

    University dissertation from Umeå : Umeå University

    Author : Ewnetu Bayuh Lakew; Umeå universitet.; [2015]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cloud computing; distributed infrastructure; monitoring; accounting; performance modeling; service differentiation; Computing Science; administrativ databehandling;

    Abstract : The emergence of large-scale Internet services coupled with the evolution of computing technologies such as distributed systems, parallel computing, utility computing, grid, and virtualization has fueled a movement toward a new resource provisioning paradigm called cloud computing. The main appeal of cloud computing lies in its ability to provide a shared pool of infinitely scalable computing resources for cloud services, which can be quickly provisioned and released on-demand with minimal effort. 4. 4. Interpreting budget deficits and productivity fluctuations

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Jyry Hokkanen; Uppsala universitet.; [1998]
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Economics; Nationalekonomi; SOCIAL SCIENCES Business and economics Economics; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Ekonomi Nationalekonomi; nationalekonomi; Economics;

    Abstract : This thesis includes four self-contained essays on budget deficits and productivity fluctuations:ESSAY I evaluates the effects of budget deficits on several key macroeconomic variables of the Swedish economy by estimating a vector autoregression model. The main finding is that - apart from a positive transitory real interest rate effect associated with a shock in the deficit - neither actual nor unexpected movements in deficits have any significant explanatory power for the determination of real non-fiscal variables. 5. 5. Designing Public Organizations and Institutions: Essays on Coordination and Incentives

    University dissertation from Department of Economics, Lund Universtiy

    Author : Jens Dietrichson; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2013]
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Organizations; institutions; coordination; incentives; performance measurement; communication; budget processes; local governments; fiscal performance; bailouts;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of an introduction and four self-contained chapters that address issues of how organizations and institutions should be designed in order to provide adequate incentives and enable coordination. The first essay uses a multi-task principal-agent model to examine two reasons why coordination problems are common when public sector organizations share responsibilities: the incentives to coordinate resource allocation and the difficulties of measuring performance.
