  1. 21. Reliability-based Assessment of Concrete Dam Stability

    Author : Marie Westberg; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; assessment; stability; concrete dam; structural reliability analysis; probability; uplift; system reliability;

    Abstract : Risk management is increasingly used in dam safety and includes risk analysis, risk evaluation and risk reduction. Structural Reliability Analysis (SRA) is a probabilistic methodology that may be used in the risk assessment process. READ MORE

  2. 22. Reliability-based evaluation of concrete dams

    Author : Marie Westberg; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; spatial correlation; assessment; concrete dam; uplift; structural reliability analysis; existing structure;

    Abstract : Swedish concrete dams are designed and assessed based on deterministic design using safety factors. The combination of increasing age, new methods for calculation of design floods and increasing demands by society to ensure a high level of safety, has resulted in upgrading and rebuilding needs for dams. 3. 23. Evaluation of Innovative Rehabilitation Technologies Utilising Polymer Composites for Aging Sewer Systems

    Author : Parastou Kharazmi; Folke Björk; Tord af Klintberg; Tor Broström; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Abstract : Water and wastewater sewer system maintenance is among the costliest aspects of infrastructure investment. The replacement of deteriorated lines is a difficult and expensive process that causes community disturbance and is generally not conducted fast enough to meet demand. READ MORE

  4. 24. Contractor Monitoring of Productivity and Sustainability in Building Refurbishment

    Author : Ahmet Anil Sezer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sustainability; construction industry; measurement; refurbishment; productivity;

    Abstract : The aging building stock in Europe and regulatory requirements to decrease energy consumption make sustainable refurbishment a valuable alternative to other construction activities. The construction industry appears to suffer from low productivity growth, and the construction productivity debate concludes that productivity measurement is difficult, not least due to changes in input and output qualities. 5. 25. Towards Model-Based Condition Monitoring of Railway Switches and Crossings

    Author : Marko Milosevic; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sleeper void; Switches crossings; condition indicators; embedded sleeper accelerometer; multi-body simulations; dynamic vehicle–track interaction; MBS; S C; wheel–rail contact forces; condition monitoring; crossing rail geometry; displacement reconstruction.; model calibration;

    Abstract : Railway switches and crossings (S&C, turnouts) connect different track sections and create a railway network by allowing for trains to change between tracks. This functionality comes at a cost as the load-inducing rail discontinuities in the switch and crossing panels cause much higher degradation rates for S&C compared to regular plain line track.
