  1. 1. Safety in Case of Fire - The Effect of Changing Regulations

    Author : Johan Lundin; Avdelningen för Brandteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Technological sciences; verification; risk analysis; uncertainty; prescriptive; risk control; building regulation; Performance-based; fire safety engineering; Teknik; Building construction; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : In this doctoral thesis some fundamental problems concerning society's ability to control the safety in buildings in the case of fire by issuing performance-based building regulations are identified and analysed. Fire protection documentation from forty-six projects was studied, together with a detailed analysis of the Swedish building regulations and an extensive risk analysis of a class of buildings. 2. 2. Regulating energy performance of residential buildings in cold climate : a study of indicators, criteria, and evaluation methods

    Author : Ingrid Allard Stolterman; Thomas Olofsson; Gireesh Nair; Folke Björk; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy performance; building simulation; cold climate; energy use; indicators; evaluation methods; building regulations; residential buildings; energy measurements; performance gap; energy signature; sustainable development; hållbar utveckling; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Building energy performance has been important in Fennoscandia ever since the early vernacular houses, to combat the cold climate. Due to EU directive 2010/31/EU on the energy performance of buildings (EPBD recast), building energy performance has become even more relevant in northern Europe the last decade. READ MORE

  3. 3. Methodology for the modelling of thermally activated building components in low exergy design

    Author : Dietrich Schmidt; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : There is still an obvious and indisputable need for an increase in the efficiency of energy utilisation in buildings. Heating, cooling and lighting appliances in buildings account for more than one third of the world’s primary energy demand and there are great potentials, which can be obtained through better applications of the energy use in buildings. 4. 4. Thermal Modelling of Water-Based Floor Heating Systems - supply temperature optimisation and self-regulating effects

    Author : Henrik Karlsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; low temperature heating; self-regulation; predictive control; Floor heating;

    Abstract : Low temperature water-based concrete embedded floor heating systems are studied. The utilisation of low quality heat sources is facilitated by low temperature heating. Theoretical models which describe the transient thermal floor heating operation constitute the basis for the analysis. READ MORE

  5. 5. Möten med marknaden. Tre svenska fackförbunds agerande under perioden 1945-1976

    Author : Carina Gråbacke; Göteborgs universitet; []

    Abstract : This is a study of how trade unions act when they are confronted with the consequences of innovations in their own sector of the economy. The framework in which this is studied, basically consists of Mancur Olson's distinction between encompassing/broad and narrow interest organizations, here represented by the peak organization of the blue-collar workers (LO) and the separate trade unions within LO, respectively.
