  1. 1. Modelling and Experimental Verification of Direct Drive Wave Energy Conversion : Buoy-Generator Dynamics

    Author : Mikael Eriksson; Mats Leijon; Jan Isberg; Arne Wolfbrandt; Kim Nielsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Engineering physics; Wave energy; Potential wave theory; Linear generator; Simulations; Experiments; Point absorber; FEM; Equivalent circuit theory; Teknisk fysik; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on development of models and modelling of a wave energy converter in operation. Through the thesis linear potential wave theory has been used to describe the wave-buoy interaction. The differences lie in the generator models, in the simplest model the generator is a mechanical damper characterized by a damping factor. READ MORE

  2. 2. Buoy Geometry, Size and Hydrodynamics for Power Take Off Device for Point Absorber Linear Wave Energy Converter

    Author : Halvar Gravråkmo; Mats Leijon; Jan Isberg; Luke Myers; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; point absorber; wave; energy; converter; ocean; wec; toroidal; buoy; torus; cylindrical; cylinder; experiment; full scale; trial; sea; energy; renewable; Engineering Science with specialization in Science of Electricity; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektricitetslära;

    Abstract : Wave energy converters of point absorber type have been developed and constructed. Full scale experiments have been carried out at sea and electricity has been successfully delivered. Linear permanent magnet generators together with a subsea substation and buoys of various geometric shapes have been investigated theoretically and experimentally. READ MORE

  3. 3. Buoy for linear wave energy converter

    Author : Halvar Gravråkmo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : A wave energy converter (WEC) of point absorber type has been developed and tests have been conducted outside Lysekil. The project started in 2002 and linear permanent magnet generators together with a subsea substation and buoys of various geometric shapes have been built and tested. READ MORE

  4. 4. Studying Buoy Motion for Wave Power : Experiments at the Lysekil Research Site

    Author : Simon Tyrberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Since 2002, the Division for Electricity at Uppsala University has been running the Lysekil project. The project is an attempt to construct and evaluate a technology for extracting electrical energy from the motion of ocean waves. The idea is to let this up-and-down motion drive a linear generator.
