1. Development of Methods for Determination of Fat and Trace Constituents in Food, with Emphasis on Supercritical Fluid Extraction
Abstract : Sample preparation is the most time-consuming step in an analysis. Traditional sample preparation techniques consume large amounts of organic solvents, are time-consuming and are difficult to automate. READ MORE

2. Towards sustainable plastics : Microbial production of aromatic and aliphatic building blocks from biobased feedstock and plastic hydrolysate
Abstract : The current plastic system is unsustainable and needs to change. Plastics are mainly produced from fossil feedstock, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions, and low rate of post-consumer recycling results in pollution on land and in oceans with high ecological impact, and huge loss of valuable material. 3. Poly (butylene succinate) and poly (butylene adipate) : quantitative determination of degradation products and application as PVC plasticizers
Abstract : A solid phase extraction (SPE) method was developed for simultaneous extraction of dicarboxylic acids and diols formed during hydrolysis of poly(butylene succinate), PBS, and poly(butylene adipate), PBA. The developed SPE method and subsequent GC-MS analysis were used to extract, identify and quantify low molecular weight products migrating from linear and branched poly(butylene adipate) (PBA) and poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) during aging in aqueous media. 4. Improving the Mechanical Properties of Composite Rocket Propellants
Abstract : Solid composite rocket propellants usually contain ammoniumperchlorate embedded in an elastic polymer binder. The bindercan be based on a liquid prepolymer such as hydroxyl-terminatedpolybutadiene, HTPB, or poly(3-nitratomethyl-3-methyl oxetane,PolyNIMMO. READ MORE

5. Structural Studies of Hyaluronan Hydrogels
Abstract : Hydrogels consist of cross-linked polymer networks with the ability to absorb large amounts of water. In this thesis, the structures of hydrogels consisting of hyaluronic acid (HA) cross-linked by 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether (BDDE) have been investigated. READ MORE
