21. Heterostructure Barrier Varactors for High Efficiency Frequency Multipliers
Abstract : This thesis describes the Heterostructure Barrier Varactor (HBV) and its application in frequency multipliers. Different HBV materials, fabrication processes, and device models are presented. The aim of this work is to improve the efficiency of HBV frequency multipliers. READ MORE

22. Metal Gate Technology for Advanced CMOS Devices
Abstract : The development and implementation of a metal gate technology (alloy, compound, or silicide) into metal-oxide-semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs) is necessary to extend the life of planar CMOS devices and enable further downscaling. This thesis examines possible metal gate materials for improving the performance of the gate stack and discusses process integration as well as improved electrical and physical measurement methodologies, tested on capacitor structures and transistors. 23. Galanin receptor subtypes in rodent models of mood disorders
Abstract : Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a serious mental illness, with a complex etiology. It is a multifactorial disorder caused by a combination of genetic, environmental and epigenetic factors. Exposure to stressful life events seems to be a common, contributing cause of morbidity. 24. Metastable ScAlN and YAlN Thin Films Grown by Reactive Magnetron Sputter Epitaxy
Abstract : Metastable ScxAl1-xN and YxAl1-xN thin films were deposited in an ultra high vacuum system using reactive magnetron sputter epitaxy from elemental Al, Sc, and Y targets in Ar/N2 gas mixture. Their structural, electrical, optical, mechanical, and piezoelectrical properties were investigated by using the transmission electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction, spectroscopic ellipsometry, I-V and C-V measurements, nanoindentation, and two different techniques for piezoelectric characterization: piezoresponse force microscopy and double beam interferometry. 25. Investigation of Novel Metal Gate and High-κ Dielectric Materials for CMOS Technologies
Abstract : The demands for faster, smaller, and less expensive electronic equipments are basically the driving forces for improving the speed and increasing the packing density of microelectronic components. Down-scaling of the devices is the principal method to realize these requests. READ MORE
