  1. 1. Response of cable-stayed and suspension bridges to moving vehicles : Analysis methods and practical modeling techniques

    Author : Raid Karoumi; KTH; []
    Keywords : cable-stayed bridge; suspension bridge; Great Belt suspension bridge; bridge moving loads; traffic-induced vibrations bridge-vehicle interaction; dynamic analysis; cable element; finite element analysis; finite diffrence method; tuned mass damper; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a state-of-the-art-review and twodifferent approaches for solving the moving load problem ofcable-stayed and suspension bridges. The first approach uses a simplified analysis method tostudy the dynamic response of simple cable-stayed bridgemodels. READ MORE

  2. 2. Non-Linear Vibration and Dynamic Fracture Mechanics of Bridge Cables

    Author : Armando Leon; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cable Vibrations; Non-Linear Vibration; Dynamic Fracture Mechanics; Cable-Stayed Bridges; Dynamic Stress Intensity Factor;

    Abstract : In the present work, the non-linear vibrations and the corresponding dynamic fracture mechanics of cables of cable-stayed bridges are studied. The cables are among the most critical components in cable-stayed bridges and there are different damage sources such as corrosion, vibration, fatigue and fretting fatigue that can significantly affect them, thereby reducing the cable’s service life and even producing their failure. 3. 3. Electromagnetic Modeling with Complex Dielectrics : A Partial Element Equivalent Circuit Approach

    Author : Andreas Hartman; Jonas Ekman; Jerker Delsing; Frank Gronwald; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industrial Electronics; Industriell elektronik;

    Abstract : Wireless communication systems have become an integral part of many complex systems in diverse areas of society, for the exchange of data in business and industrial settings. With the advent of Internet of Things (IoT) and wireless sensor network architectures, the tighter demands on interoperability between different devices are putting heavy requirements their ability to exchange data wirelessly among them reliably. 4. 4. Transmission line theory for cable modeling: a delay-rational model based on Green's functions

    Author : Maria De Lauretis; Sven Nordebo; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industriell elektronik; Industrial Electronics;

    Abstract : At present, induction motors are controlled via the so-called variable-frequency drives (VFD) that allow to control the speed for the motors. The purpose of this PhD thesis is to improve electromagnetic modeling techniques for the study of conducted electromagnetic emissions in variable-frequency drives, with the aim of enhancing their reliability in energy production plants. 5. 5. Direct Driven Generators for Vertical Axis Wind Turbines

    Author : Sandra Eriksson; Hans Bernhoff; Mats Leijon; Jörgen Blennow; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; synchronous generator; wind power; vertical axis wind turbine; simulations; experiments; finite element method; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : Wind power is a renewable energy source that is increasingly used all over the world. Most wind turbines have a horizontal axis of rotation but a few have a vertical axis of rotation. The concept presented in this thesis is a straight-bladed vertical axis wind turbine with a direct driven cable-wound permanent magnet synchronous generator. READ MORE
