26. Nanoplasmonics for Absorption Engineering and Hydrogen Sensing
Abstract : When light interacts with metallic nanoparticles smaller than its wavelength it can excite a collective oscillation of the conduction electrons that gives rise to efficient light absorption and scattering. Moreover, locally strongly enhanced electric fields are created around the particles. READ MORE

27. Studies of Catalytic Low-Temperature CO Oxidation over Cobalt Oxide and Related Transition Metal Oxides
Abstract : The catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide at low temperatures is important in many applications. The use of a low temperature active catalyst may lower the emissions during the cold-start of a car, and volatile organic compounds in exhaust gases from stationary sources might be treated without the need of preheating the gas. 28. New Materials for Gas Sensitive Field-Effect Device Studies
Abstract : Gas sensor control is potentially one of the most important techniques of tomorrow for the environment. All over the world cars are preferred for transportation, and accordingly the number of cars increases, unfortunately, together with pollutants. Boilers and powerplants are other sources of pollutants to the environment. READ MORE

29. Measuring with pressure sensitive paint in time-varying flows
Abstract : Increasingly tougher legislation on internal combustion engine emissions drives the development towards smaller engines with higher efficiency where an important component is the gas-exchange system and especially the turbocharger. The flow in the gas-exchange system is inherently pulsating and unsteady and the present thesis aims at investigating if and how pressure sensitive paint (PSP) can be used for internal unsteady flows of relevance for engine applications. 30. Characterization of Aerosols Related to Occupational and Public Environments as Applied to Isocyanates and Road Wear
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to characterize a personal denuder/filter sampler for isocyanate aerosol and to study the emission of airborne particles from the interaction between studded tires and pavements. Both types of aerosols are highly relevant for health studies in public and occupational environments. READ MORE
