11. Preclinical X-Ray Fluorescence Imaging with Multifunctional Nanoparticles
Abstract : X-ray fluorescence imaging (XFI) is an emerging technique for preclinical studies, characterized by high resolution, specificity, and sensitivity. It relies on nanoparticles (NPs) as contrast agents, which must be constituted of specific elements that match the X-ray source energy for detection. READ MORE

12. UHV-CVD growth of Ge/Si nanostructures
Abstract : This thesis is based on the results concerning the epitaxial growth and characterization of silicon (Si) and germanium (Ge) nanostructures. The growth technique was the Ultra High Vacuum Chemical Vapor Deposition (UHV-CVD) that works in relatively low temperatures and low growth pressures. READ MORE

13. Novel electrode and photoelectrode materials for hydrogen production based on molecular catalysts
Abstract : The PhD project focussed on the application of a cobalt tetraazamacrocyclic complex, in the literature commonly referred to as [Co(CR)Cl2]+ as a molecular catalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). This was within the broader scope of the EU MSCA H2020 ITN ‘eSCALED’ project, which primarily aimed to create artificial leaf devices for the storage of solar energy in chemical fuels and, as part of this, sought the development of novel bio-inspired and scalable materials. 14. Optical properties of novel semiconductor nanostructures
Abstract : Semiconductor nanostructures, such as one-dimensional nanowires (NWs) and zerodimensional quantum dots (QDs), have recently gained increasing interest due to their unique physical properties that are found attractive for a wide variety of applications ranging from gas sensing and spintronics to optoelectronics and photonics. Here, especially promising are nanostructures based on compound semiconductors, including ZnO, GaNP and GaAs/InAs. READ MORE

15. Exploration of Graphene-like 2D Materials for Energy Management and Interface Enhancement Applications
Abstract : Ever since the discovery of graphene in 2004, graphene-like 2D materials and their derivatives have attracted extensive investigations because of their exceptional physical and chemical properties. At present, the study of graphene-like 2D materials is at a stage where most of their outstanding physical and chemical properties have been discovered, but the technology for incorporating them into practical commercial products is rarely revealed.
