  1. 1. Circularity in Thermal Recycling for Sustainable Carbon Fibers

    Author : Marina Corvo Alguacil; Roberts Joffe; Tommy Öman; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pyrolysis; carbon fiber; composites recycling; CFRP; polymer composites; sustainability; Polymeric Composite Materials; Polymera kompositmaterial;

    Abstract : The research field of composite materials is particularly fascinating due to the design freedom they offer and the infinite number of constituent combinations, including those that are already explored, and many more that are yet to be tried. One composite material that holds great potential contains carbon in its fiber shape. READ MORE

  2. 2. A Framework for Fatigue Analysis of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer Structures

    Author : Sara Eliasson; Zuheir Barsoum; Per Wennhage; Kim Branner; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Heavy-duty vehicles; Fatigue; Carbon fiber reinforced polymer; Multi-scale modeling; Probabilistic modeling; Tunga fordon; Utmattning; Kolfiberkomposit; Probabilistisk modellering; Farkostteknik; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering;

    Abstract : Our society depends on functional road communication, and Heavy Duty Vehicles (HDVs) offer convenient and limitless possibilities of transport and services. However, HDVs account for a quarter of the European Union's CO2 road emissions. There is a substantial need to reduce the CO2 emissions of HDVs to ensure a low negative environmental impact. 3. 3. Flexural Strengthening of Reinforced Concrete Beams Using Externally Bonded CFRP--An Innovative Method for the Application of Prestressed CFRP Laminates

    Author : Jincheng Yang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; interfacial stress; anchorage; mesh sensitivity; externally bonded; reinforced concrete; flexural strengthening; optimization; smeared length; finite element modeling; carbon fiber reinforced polymer CFRP ; stepwise prestressing; debonding;

    Abstract : A large number of existing bridges in European countries are structurally deficient and functionally obsolete due to the deterioration of aging bridges and the lack of structural and geometric capacity to accommodate the increasing traffic volume and load levels. To meet the demand for holistic and effective strengthening techniques the SUREBRIDGE solution is proposed for the refurbishment of concrete bridges, which includes the technique of using prestressed carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminate as externally bonded reinforcement for flexural strengthening. 4. 4. Numerical analysis of concrete elements strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced polymers

    Author : Joakim Lundqvist; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Due to the growing number of ageing reinforced concrete structures such as buildings and bridges, there is an increasing interest in condition assessment and strengthening methods. Deterioration processes and demands for higher loads contribute to this interest. READ MORE

  5. 5. Fatigue damage mechanisms in polymer matrix composites

    Author : Kristofer Gamstedt; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymera konstruktionsmaterial; Polymeric Composite Materials;

    Abstract : Polymer matrix composites are finding increased use in structural applications, in particular for aerospace and automotive purposes. Mechanical fatigue is the most common type of failure of structures in service. The relative importance of fatigue has yet to be reflected in design where static conditions still prevail. READ MORE
