11. Greenhouse Gas Fluxes and Carbon Sequestration in Young Norway Spruce Stands : The Effects of Fertilization
Abstract : The enormous challenge of climate change is discussed and debated today because of its major impact on life on Earth. The forests have an important role to play as the plants absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere through their photosynthesis and the growing tree retain carbon (C). READ MORE

12. Multifunctional Carbon Foams by Emulsion Templating : Synthesis, Microstructure, and 3D Li-ion Microbatteries
Abstract : Carbon foams are among the existing electrode designs proposed for use in 3D Li-ion microbatteries. For such electrodes to find applications in practical microbatteries, however, their void sizes, specific surface areas and pore volumes need be optimized. READ MORE

13. Selection of oxygen carriers for chemical-looping combustion using methane as a fuel
Abstract : In order to meet new demands on clean energy producing technologies, chemical-looping combustion could play an important role. With this technique, CO2 from the flue gases can be separated and collected without excessive energy and efficiency penalty. This is because nitrogen from the combustion air is never mixed with the fuel. READ MORE

14. Toward Carbon based NEMS
Abstract : A systematic analysis and assessment of carbon nanotube (CNT) based NEMS switches is presented and their features are compared to typical complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) performance parameters. It is shown that CNT-based switches with considerably smaller leakage current compared to CMOS switches can be realized. READ MORE

15. Regulation of Insulin Secretion in Relation to Nitric Oxide, Carbon Monoxide and Acid alpha-Glucoside Hydrolase Activities
Abstract : The main stimulus for insulin secretion is elevated blood glucose levels. In this thesis the aim was to study less well-known systems involved in the complex regulation of glucose-stimulated insulin release, emphasizing the role of the lysosomal/vacuolar system and the associated glycogenolytic acid alpha-glucoside hydrolases, but also the HO-CO and NOS-NO systems.
