11. Recovery of organic carbon from municipal waste streams
Abstract : The focus of the current study was on the recovery of carbon from municipal bio-waste streams. Firstly, the relationship between methanogenic pathways and the properties of anaerobic granules was studied using two pilot-scale upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactors with different granule size distribution. 12. Sintering in the Kraft Pulp Mill - Studies in the Rotary Kiln and Recovery Boiler
Abstract : The conversion of black liquor to white liquor is carried out in the chemical recovery system, which is made up of several units; in two of them, i.e. the recovery boiler and the rotary kiln, sintering plays an important role. READ MORE

13. Dual isotope (13C-14C) Studies of Water-Soluble Organic Carbon (WSOC) Aerosols in South and East Asia
Abstract : Atmospheric aerosols may be emitted directly as particles (primary) or formed from gaseous precursors (secondary) from different natural and anthropogenic sources. The highly populated South and East Asia regions are currently in a phase of rapid economic growth to which high emissions of carbonaceous aerosols are coupled. READ MORE

14. Bio-based recovery of organic carbon from municipal waste streams : Process optimization and microbial community dynamics
Abstract : Resource recovery from waste contributes to the transition to a sustainable society. Municipal organic wastes have enormous potential for resource recovery due to the inherent organic content which makes it possible to obtain bio-based chemicals and bioenergy. READ MORE

15. Poly (3-hydroxybutyrate) from a moderate halophile: production and modification for new applications
Abstract : Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) is a homopolymer belonging to the family of biopolyesters, polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) produced by different bacteria and archaea as intracellular granules often under conditions of metabolic stress due to a limited supply of essential nutrients. The properties of the PHAs are similar to those of polyethylene and polypropylene and can hence replace these fossil based polymers in a large variety of applications. READ MORE
