12. The dynamic surface nature of calcite and its role in determining the adsorptive stability toward hydrophobizing carboxylic fatty acids
Abstract : Calcium carbonate has attracted a lot of interest over the centuries. Nowadays, mainly as mineral pigment and filler, it has a wide use in technological applications ranging from paper, construction, polymers, and environmental solutions to consumer goods. READ MORE

13. Amidst the green Metal-catalyzed amide formation from carboxylic acids
Abstract : This thesis describes novel methods for transition metal-catalyzed transformation of non-activated carboxylic acids to amides. It was found that 2-10 mol% of zirconium(IV) chloride or 10-20 mol% titanium(IV) isopropoxide catalyzed the formation of a range of secondary and tertiary amides in good to excellent yields (61-99%) in THF at 70-100°C, with molecular sieves present as water scavengers. 14. [11C]Carbon Monoxide in Palladium- / Selenium-Promoted Carbonylation Reactions : Synthesis of 11C-Imides, Hydrazides, Amides, Carboxylic Acids, Carboxylic Esters, Carbothioates, Ketones and Carbamoyl Compounds
Abstract : [11C]Carbon monoxide in low concentrations has been used in palladium- or seleniummediated carbonylation reactions such as the synthesis of 11C-imides, hydrazides, amides, carboxylic acids, esters, carbothioates, ketones and carbamoyl compounds. In these reactions aryl iodides have been used in most cases. 15. Human exposure to perfluoroalkyl acids
Abstract : Perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acids (PFCAs) and perfluoroalkane sulfonic acids (PFSAs) are persistent organic contaminants which have been globally measured in human serum samples at low μg L-1 concentrations. One hypothesis, the so-called "indirect hypothesis", postulates that exposure to precursor compounds is responsible for the presence of PFCAs and PFSAs in human serum. READ MORE
