21. Effects of growth hormone on cardiovascular risk factors and atherosclerosis
Abstract : Hypopituitary patients with growth hormone (GH) deficiency (GHD) have increasedmorbidity and mortality from cardiovascular disease (CVD). GH treatment has both beneficialand potentially negative cardiovascular effects. READ MORE

22. Longitudinal Common Carotid Artery Wall Motion - mechanistic, prognostic and translational studies
Abstract : The longitudinal arterial movement of the common carotid artery (CCA) has been less investigated during the past compared to the radial movement. This is probably due to lack of an adequate measuring method. Velocity vector ultrasound imaging (VVI) now enables assessment of the longitudinal movement. READ MORE

23. Ultrasound assessment of carotid atherosclerosis focusing on plaque characteristics and changes over time
Abstract : In a clinical perspective better methods to identify subjects at increased cardiovascular risk are needed. Atherosclerotic plaques of the carotid arteries with low echogenicity have been related to future clinical events. READ MORE

24. Patterns of non-invasive imaging of carotid atherosclerosis
Abstract : Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory disease that can be generalized, affecting more than one arterial bed simultaneously, or localized, manifested in one system. Ultrasound based measurements of plaque textural features, such as low grey scale median (GSM), echolucent (hypoechoic) plaque types and juxtaluminal black (hypoechoic) area (JBA) are manifestation of potentially unstable lesions. 25. Postprandial lipaemia and its relation to premature atherosclerosis in middle-aged men
Abstract : The present research programme was set up to investigate whether pertubations of the metabolism of postprandial triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TRLs) are related to premature atherosclerosis and to determine if treatment with a 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase inhibitor (atorvastatin) improves deranged alimentary lipaemia in postinfarction patients with combined hyperlipidaemia. The relation between plasma insulin and alimentary lipaemia was investigated as well. READ MORE
