1. Early Discourses on Colour and Cinema : Origins, Functions, Meanings
Abstract : This dissertation is a historical and theoretical study of a number of discourses examining colour and cinema during the period 1909 to 1935 (trade press, film reviews, publications on film technology, manuals, catalogues and theoretical texts from the era). 2. Seismicity Analyses Using Dense Network Data : Catalogue Statistics and Possible Foreshocks Investigated Using Empirical and Synthetic Data
Abstract : Precursors related to seismicity patterns are probably the most promising phenomena for short-term earthquake forecasting, although it remains unclear if such forecasting is possible. Foreshock activity has often been recorded but its possible use as indicator of coming larger events is still debated due to the limited number of unambiguously observed foreshocks. READ MORE

3. Tycho-Gaia and beyond: Combining data for precision astrometry
Abstract : Astrometry aims at producing a three-dimensional map of positions and motions of stars and other celestial bodies in a consistent coordinate system covering the whole sky. This is best done from space, which provides a way of scanning the entire sky by a single instrument in a thermally stable environment. READ MORE

4. Designing with Urban Sound : Exploring methods for qualitative sound analysis of the built environment
Abstract : The licentiate thesis Designing with Urban Sound explores the constitution and qualitative characteristics of urban sonic space from a design-oriented and practice-based perspective. The act of lifting forth and illuminating the interaction between architecture, the creation of sound and a sonic experience aims to examine and develop useful tools and methods for the representation, communication and analysis of the exterior sonic environment in complex architectural spaces. 5. Beyond Cut and Join : Expanding the Creative Role of Film Editing
Abstract : The research project Beyond Cut and Join – Expanding the creative role of film editing comes out of two major observations over decades of professional film editing experience: that a lot of film editing’s potential is untapped in filmmaking, especially in relation to character creation; and that editors’ skills, influence and authorial participation often are misunderstood and undervalued.
