  1. 16. Sampling, sample treatment, assay and real time monitoring of biotechnological processes using an integrated flow-injection system

    Author : Mohammad Mazlomi; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bioprocess; Sampling; Sample treatment; On-line monitoring; Real time monitoring; Flow injection; Immunoassay; Fermentation;

    Abstract : Microorganisms can be used for production of pharmaceutical substances. With the introduction of gene technology, it is possible to transfer information from one organism to the other, thereby making the receiving organism capable of producing substances that it did not so before. This development is very important for e.g. READ MORE

  2. 17. Analysis of the interaction between HIV-1 protease and inhibitors : Applications for drug discovery

    Author : Per-Olof Markgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : The aims of this study were to identify and characterize inhibitors of HIV-l protease aspotential leads in a drug discovery process, and to develop improved methods for suchcharacterization. More than 300 inhibitors, including linear and cyclic peptidomimetictransition state analogs and Cu2+, were analyzed. READ MORE

  3. 18. Water splitting by heterogeneous catalysis

    Author : Henrik Svengren; Mats Johnsson; Tomas Edvinsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Faradaic efficiency; electrocatalysis; electrolysis; water oxidation; hydrogen reduction; H2; O2; mass spectrometry; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : A sustainable solution for meeting the energy demands at our planet is by utilizing wind-, solar-, wave-, thermal-, biomass- and hydroelectric power. These renewable and CO2 emission-free energy sources are highly variable in terms of spatial and temporal availability over the Earth, introducing the need for an appropriate method of storing and carrying energy. 4. 19. Monolith Reactors in Three-Phase Processes

    Author : Rolf Edvinsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; desulfurization; methanol synthesis; acetylene hydrogenation; Taylor flow; monolith reactor; three-phase; computational fluid dynamics;

    Abstract : The use of monoliths in chemical processes has been studied with the emphasis on liquid-phase hydrogenations. A monolithic catalyst consists of many narrow, parallel channels with catalytically active species either incorporated into the wall itself or into a layer of a porous oxide deposited on the wall (a washcoat). 5. 20. Asymmetric transformation of ß- and γ-functionalized alcohols : Study of combined ruthenium-catalyzed racemization and enzymatic resolution

    Author : Annika Träff; Jan-Erling Bäckvall; Reko Leino; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kinetic resolution; dynamic kinetic resolution; kinetic asymmetric transformation; dynamic kinetic asymmetric transformation; enzyme catalysis; racemization; asymmetric synthesis; chlorohydrin; cyano acetate; amino alcohol; metalloenzyme; bifunctional catalytic system; Organic synthesis; Organisk syntes; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The major part of this thesis describes the asymmetric synthesis of β- and γ-amino alcohols through the combination of ruthenium catalyzed racemization and enzymatic kinetic resolution. The dynamic kinetic resolution, DKR, protocol for chlorohydrins was improved by employing Bäckvall’s catalyst, which is a base activated racemization catalyst, in combination with Burkholderia cepacia lipase.
