  1. 16. Regulation of cardiorespiratory homeostasis in adult and developing rat by catecholamines : effects of hypoxia

    Author : Julie Peyronnet; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : hypoxia; brainstem; catecholamines; chemoreflexe; ventilation; perinatal rat;

    Abstract : The aims of the present study were as follow 1) to characterise the neuroplasticity of sympathetic ganglia in the adult rat, after exposure to long-term hypoxia and/or axotomy of the superior cervical ganglion (SCG). The cellular distributions of TH (tyrosine hydroxylase, the rate-limiting enzyme in catecholamine biosynthesis) and VIP (vasointestinal peptide, which enhances the expression of TH) were examined. 2. 17. Psychobiological responses in women with regional or widespread musculoskeletal pain conditions

    Author : Roberto Riva; Petra Lindfors; Steven J. Linton; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; fibromyalgia; shoulder and neck pain; salivary cortisol; urinary catecholamines; cardiovascular responses; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are very common. Regional chronic shoulder and neck pain (SNP) and widespread chronic pain due to fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) are examples of MSDs characterized by altered physiology of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. 3. 18. The role of catecholamines in regulation of renal tubular sodium transport

    Author : Ulla Holtbäck; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : sodium balance; Na ; H -antiporter; Na ; K -ATPase; renal proximaltubules; hormonal regulation.;

    Abstract : Renal sodium metabolism, a major determinant of arterial blood pressure, is regulated with remarkable precision by a variety of endocrine, autocrine and neuronal factors. All these factors are known to regulate sodium metabolism by affecting the rate of renal tubular sodium reabsorption. READ MORE
