  1. 11. Mining induced seismicity in Sweden

    Author : Kristina Larsson; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mining and Rock Engineering; Gruv- och Berganläggningsteknik;

    Abstract : The virgin stress state in the rock mass is disturbed by mining, which leads to locally increased or decreased stresses. The rock mass in Sweden is generally composed of high strength brittle rock types, so the risk of seismicity and rockbursts (violent failures) increase with increasing depth of mining due to increasing stress levels. 2. 12. Rock Mass behavior and Cap Rock Stability at the Malmberget Mine

    Author : Sraj Banda Umar; Christer Andersson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mining and Rock Engineering; Gruv- och berganläggningsteknik;

    Abstract : Rock Mass behavior and Cap Rock Stability at the Malmberget MineThe LKAB Malmberget mine is mined using sublevel caving. This mining method requires continuous caving of the hangingwall, which also result in ground deformations on the surface. READ MORE

  3. 13. Fragmentation and waste rock compaction in small-scale confined blasting

    Author : Daniel Johansson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mining and Rock Engineering; Gruv- och berganläggningsteknik;

    Abstract : Sub-level caving (SLC) is an important mass mining method, used at LKAB e.g. The caved rock or debris at the SLC interface reduces the fragmentation and the swelling of the blasted ring and it dissipates the explosive energy. These phenomena may immobilize the blasted ring, causing ore losses. READ MORE

  4. 14. Burden Dynamics and Fragmentation

    Author : Nikolaos Petropoulos; Zongxian Zhang; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mining and Rock Engineering; Gruv- och berganläggningsteknik;

    Abstract : Drill and blast is a dominant technique in several surface and underground mines in the world. The purpose of this technique is to break rock mass into fragments, which can be handled by mining equipment. The identified major influencing factors in rock blasting are stress waves and gas pressurization. READ MORE

  5. 15. Mine-scale rock mass behaviour at the Kiirunavaara Mine

    Author : Jessica Vatcher; Flavio Lanaro; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mining and Rock Engineering; Gruv- och berganläggningsteknik;

    Abstract : The interaction of the geological and mining environments leads to a variety of forms of rock mass behaviour, including seismicity and falls of ground. A precise understanding, however, of the role of geology in rock mass behaviour experienced by Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara Aktiebolag’s (LKAB) Kiirunavaara Mine remains unknown. READ MORE
