1. Strong light-matter coupling: from traditional to cavity-free polaritons
Abstract : Polaritons are formed when light and matter interact strongly. For this to occur, photons and transitions in a material must exchange energy faster than the dissipation rate of the interacting components. Polaritons have shown the ability to change such material properties as photophysics, chemical reaction rates, transport, etc. READ MORE

2. Strong Light-Matter Coupling: the Road from Conventional to Cavity-Free Polaritons
Abstract : The interaction between light and matter is fundamental in perceiving and understanding the world. The interaction is typically weak, meaning light only perturbs matter without changing its properties. READ MORE

3. Cavity Field Control for Linear Particle Accelerators
Abstract : High-energy linear particle accelerators enable exploration of the microscopic structure of pharmaceuticals, solar cells, fuel cells, high-temperature superconductors, and the universe itself. These accelerators accelerate charged particles using oscillating magnetic fields that are confined in metal cavities. READ MORE

4. Properties of small Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 intrinsic Josephson junctions: confinement, flux-flow and resonant phenomena
Abstract : In this thesis, intrinsic Josephson junctions, naturally formed in the strongly anisotropic high-temperature superconductor Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 (Bi-2212), are studied experimentally. For this purpose, small mesa structures are fabricated on the surface of single crystals using micro- and nano-fabrication tools, focused ion beam is used to reduce the area of the mesa-structures down to ≈ 1 × 1 μm2. 5. High-frequency phenomena in small Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x intrinsic Josephson junctions
Abstract : In this thesis, the tunneling between individual atomic layers in structures of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x based high-temperature superconductors are experimentally studied employing the intrinsic Josephson effect. A special attention is paid to the fabrication of small mesa structures using micro and nanofabrication techniques. READ MORE
