  1. 1. Maxillofacial cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) : aspetcs on optimisation

    Author : Ayman Al-Okshi; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CBCT; OPTIMISATION; DOSAGE;

    Abstract : Inom odontologisk såväl som inom medicinsk radiologi sker en snabb utveckling av nya tekniker. Nya metoder för att kunna diagnosticera och följa sjukdomsförlopp över tid introduceras. Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) är en sådan ny teknik, som introducerades inom odontologin under sent 1990-tal. READ MORE

  2. 2. Computed tomography in endodontic decision making

    Author : Fernando José Mota de Almeida; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; endodontics; decision making; computed tomography; CBCT; cone beam; interviews; qualitative content analysis; diagnostic thinking efficacy; therapeutic efficacy;

    Abstract : Computed tomography has been used in dentistry as a complement to two-dimensional (2D) imaging since the 1980s. The advent of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), a more modern computed tomog-raphy technique, meant a revolution in dento-maxillofacial imaging due to sharper images, with less radiation and at a lower cost than with mul-ti-slice computed tomography (MSCT), i. 3. 3. Cost and benefits of cone beam computed tomography : for maxillary canines with eruption disturbance

    Author : Helena Christell; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Diagnostic methods; Cost-effectiveness; Economic evaluation; Systematic review; Cost-analysis; Radiology; Odontology; CBCT; Cone beam computed tomography;

    Abstract : I tandvården finns allt fler metoder för prevention, diagnostik och behandling. Eftersom resurserna är begränsade bör den metod väljas där nyttan uppväger kostnaden. Idag saknas dock vetenskapliga belägg gällande kostnadseffektivitet för undersökning med Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). READ MORE

  4. 4. Carotid calcifications in panoramic radiographs in relation to carotid stenosis

    Author : Maria Garoff; Jan Ahlqvist; Eva Levring Jäghagen; Per Wester; Kostas Tsiklakis; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; carotid stenosis; panoramic radiography; calcification; atherosclerosis; odontologi; Odontology;

    Abstract : Calcifications in carotid atheromas can be detected in a panoramic radiograph (PR) of the jaws. A carotid artery calcification (CAC) can indicate presence of significant (≥ 50%) carotid stenosis (SCS). READ MORE

  5. 5. Orthodontically induced root resorption: a clinical and radiographic survey

    Author : Dimitrios Makedonas; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthodontics; root resorption; prediction; CBCT; Angle Class I; fixed appliance; six month; risk factors;

    Abstract : In 2005 the Swedish Council on Health Technology Assessment (SBU), in a systematic review, Malocclusions and Orthodontic Treatment in a Health Perspective, concluded that there were low or contradicted evidence for an association between orthodontic treatment and the risks for negative side effects. The aims of this study was to evaluate the perception of Greek and Swedish orthodontic practitioners view on orthodontically induced root resorption (OIRR), to investigate how root resorption is handled in a large orthodontic clinic and to prospectively study and correlate the prevalence and severity of root resorption seen after an initial treatment period and at the end of treatment, in a cohort of patients treated with fixed appliance.
