  1. 11. Chromatographic Studies of Solute Interactions with Immobilized Red Blood Cells and Biomembranes

    Author : Ingo Gottschalk; Irving W. Wainer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Affinity; Binding; Biomembrane; Biotin; Chromatography; Cytochalasin B; Dissociation constant; Drug absorption; Equilibrium; Glucose; GLUT1; Immobilization; Immobilized biomembrane affinity chromatography; Immobilized liposome chromatography; Interaction; Liposome; Membrane protein; Membrane vesicle; Partitioning; Phospholipid bilayer; Proteoliposome; Quantitative; Red blood cell; Solute; Specific; Streptavidin; Wheat germ agglutinin; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : Specific and non-specific interactions of solutes with immobilized biomembranes were studied using chromatographic methods. Liposomes, proteoliposomes and red blood cell (RBC) membrane vesicles were immobilized by a freeze-thawing procedure, whereas whole RBCs were adsorbed in the gel beds using electrostatic interaction, binding to wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) or the streptavidin-biotin interaction. 2. 12. Polymer Displacement and Supermacroporous Cryogels - Two New Tools in Chromatographic Separation of Biomolecules and Bioparticles

    Author : Pär Arvidsson; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biopolymers; Polymerteknik; Biochemical technology; Polymer technology; IMAC; dye-affinity; affinity chromatography; viable cells; cell chromatography; non-clarified cell homogenate; cryogel; Polymer displacement; supermacroporous; Biokemisk teknik;

    Abstract : Production of protein is often accompanied with difficulties due to the large amounts of different biological material resulting from fermentation. This makes purification necessary and affinity chromatography is usually involved as being biospecific, although suffering from limitations as low recovery due to ineffective elution and inability to handle particulate materials. Abstract : Chlamydia trachomatis is an obligate intracellular bacterium that infects over 100 million people globally every year. Chlamydia infections can be persistent, cause infertility and blindness, adding an economical burden in the healthcare systems. READ MORE

  4. 14. Lutetium-177-octreotate treatment of small intestine neuroendocrine tumors - Radiation biology as basis for optimization

    Author : Johan Spetz; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy; PRRT; somatostatin receptors; SSTR; midgut carcinoid; radiogenomics;

    Abstract : Patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) often have metastatic spread at the time of diagnosis. NETs frequently express somatostatin receptors (SSTR) that can be targeted by radiolabeled somatostatin analogs (e.g. 177Lu-octreotate). READ MORE

  5. 15. Glutathione in the brain. Studies on efflux and possible implications in neurotoxicity

    Author : Camilla Wallin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glutathione; excitotoxicity; hypoxia-ischemia; brain; rat; anoxia-aglycemia; g-glutamyl transpeptidase; glutamate; NMDA; oxidative stress; mitochondria; amino acids;

    Abstract : Neuronal cell death in acute insults such as stroke, trauma and epilepsy involves overactivation of glutamate receptors, calcium influx and increased formation of potentially toxic reactive oxygen species. Glutathione is a key component in the antioxidant defense system against reactive oxygen species. READ MORE
