  1. 1. Restoring antitumor immunity with dendritic cell reprogramming strategies. Reprogramming cancer cells to antigen-presenting cells

    Author : Alexandra Gabriela Barros Ferreira; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell Reprogramming; Cancer cells; Tumor Antigen-presenting Cells; immunotherapy;

    Abstract : For the past two decades, immunotherapy revolutionized cancer treatment. However, responses vary significantly among eligible patients and some cancer types are not yet open to immunotherapy. Several mechanisms contribute to immunotherapy resistance, including loss of antigen presentation machinery and immunosuppression. READ MORE

  2. 2. Cell-mediated immunity to flavivirus infections

    Author : Kim Blom; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : NK cells and T cells constitute a major part of the cell-mediated immune system and play important roles in the host defense against viral infections. Most current knowledge of cell-mediated immune responses to primary acute viral infections comes from murine models, while relatively less is known about human responses to, in particular, acute viral infections. 3. 3. Stress and immune signaling in a Drosophila tumor model

    Author : Dilan Khalili; Ulrich Theopold; Mirka Uhlirova; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Drosophila; cancer; innate immunity; fibrosis; antimicrobial peptides; chitinase-like proteins; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Abstract : Cancer cells contain multiple biological alterations that allow them to escape from host surveillance mechanisms. One of the mechanisms that play an essential role in host protection against tumor growth is immunity. READ MORE

  4. 4. Enhancing T cell mediated immunity in DNA vaccination

    Author : Jan Alvar Lindencrona; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : DNA vaccination; CTL; T cell; IFN-gamma; anti-tumor immunity; HER-2 neu; Influenza; LCMV; Virus-Like Particles; murine models; adjuvants; immunotherapy;

    Abstract : For centuries infectious diseases have been one of the main causes of death in the world. With the invention of vaccine technology 200 years ago, we have been able to impede and even eradicate several dangerous pathogens. READ MORE

  5. 5. Phagocyte-induced apoptosis in natural killer cells and T cells. Role of reactive oxygen species and regulation by histamine

    Author : Markus Hansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Malignant tumors frequently contain an infiltrate of leukocytes, usually cells of the monocyte/macrophage lineage and lymphocytes with anti-tumor activity such as natural killer (NK) cells and T cells. Clinical and experimental data suggest that monocytes/macrophages in tumors inhibit functions of adjacent NK cells/T cells and thereby suppress lymphocyte-dependent anti-tumor immunity. READ MORE
