  1. 6. Development of Second and Third Generation Bioelectronics

    Author : Federico Tasca; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; flow injection analysis; amperometric biosensor; mediated electron transfer; direct electron transfer; tryptophan repressor-binding protein; diaphorase; pyranose oxidase; cellobiose dehydrogenase; pyranose dehydrogenase; biofuel cell; spectroelectrochemistry; single wall carbon nanotubes; bioelectronics.;

    Abstract : The field of research dealing with the integration of biomolecules with electronic elements to form functional devices is called ‘‘bioelectronics’’. Bioelectronics based on mediated electron transfer (MET) between the biological element and the electrodes are designated as “second generation” while the one based on direct electron transfer (DET) is specified as “third generation”. 2. 7. Engineering of thermometric biosensors and characterisation of redox enzymes for improved performance of biosensors/biofuel cells

    Author : Maria Yakovleva; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Flow injection analysis; thermometric calorimetric biosensor; enzyme thermistor; immobilised enzyme reactor; amperometric biosensor; enzymatic biofuel cell; bioanode; pyranose dehydrogenase; cellobiose dehydrogenase; direct electron transfer; mediated electron transfer; matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization; glycosite mapping;

    Abstract : The present work is mainly focused on the development of enzyme-based bioanalytical devices, which can further be applied as analytical tools for industrial, medical and environmental applications. The first part of the work deals with the practical applications of thermometric biosensors for determination of various sugars (fructose and lactose) in a real samples. READ MORE

  3. 8. Functional aspects of cellobiose dehydrogenase Applications for biosensor development

    Author : Leonard Stoica; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Elektrokemi; Electrochemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; bioelectrochemistry; direct electron transfer; lactose biosensor;

    Abstract : Electrochemcial investigations were conducted for elucidating and understanding the relation between the various electron transfer processes occurring in cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) bound to an electrode surface. Substrate inhibition caused by cellobiose was proven to act in competition with the electron transfer to a two-electron acceptor and under a partial inhibition mechanism for the internal electron transfer process. 4. 9. Hydrolytic and Oxidative Mechanisms Involved in Cellulose Degradation

    Author : Anu Nutt; Jerry Ståhlberg; Henrik Stålbrand; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Biochemistry; cellobiohydrolase; cellulase; cellulose; cellobiose dehydrogenase; endoglucanase; kinetics; synergism; competitive binding; Biokemi;

    Abstract : The enzymatic degradation of cellulose is an important process in nature. This thesis has focused on the degradation of cellulose by enzymes from two cellulose-degrading fungi, Hypocrea jecorina and Phanerochaete chrysosporium, including both the action of the individual enzymes and their synergistic interplay. 5. 10. Heterogeneous electron transfer studies with ligninolytic redox enzymes and living bacteria. Applications in biosensors and biofuel cells

    Author : Vasile Coman; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cellobiose dehydrogenase; direct electron transfer; mediated electron transfer; self-assembled monolayer; flow injection analysis; amperometric biosensor; E. coli; succinate:quinone reductase; biofuel cell; B. subtilis; whole-cell biosensor;

    Abstract : The catalytic properties and the inter-domain electron transfer of cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) from the ascomycete fungus Myriococcum thermophilum adsorbed on graphite and thiol (SAM) modified gold electrodes were investigated using cyclic voltammetry, flow injection amperometry and UV-Vis spectroelectrochemistry. The fabrication and characterisation of a noncompartmentalised, mediator and cofactor free glucose–oxygen biofuel cell well-operating in glucose-containing buffers and human blood serum was performed.
