21. ICME guided study of mass transport in production and application of cemented carbides
Abstract : Cemented carbides are metallic composites consisting of a WC hard phase and a ductile binder, usually Co-based, produced by powder metallurgy and sintering. Cemented carbides are an essential part of modern material and manufacturing processes. READ MORE

22. A computational study of interface structures and energetics in cemented carbides and steels
Abstract : Cemented carbides are hard composite materials of great industrial importance. Because of their combination of hardness and toughness, they are used e.~g. for cutting, drilling, turning and milling. READ MORE

23. Microstructural aspects on wear of cemented carbides
Abstract : Cemented carbides are known to be very wear resistant and are therefore often usedin applications involving surface damage and wear. The work presented hereinvestigates the coupling between the microstructure and some fundamental wearand deformation mechanisms typical for cemented carbides. READ MORE

24. On the role of microstructure in wear of nanostructured carbide-free bainitic steels
Abstract : The significance of steel production for the development of sustainable society and economy is immense. Today’s fast growing global economy poses an increasing demand for improving the properties of steel. READ MORE

25. Equilibrium aspects of Cr-alloyed cemented carbides
Abstract : In view of the extensive use of Cr as a grain growth inhibitor in WC-Co cemented carbides this thesis comprises a combined experimental and ab initio study of a number of critical issues pertaining to phase equilibria of the subsystems to the W-Co-Cr-C system. To be able to predict which of the stable Cr-carbides forms above the solubility limits of Cr and C in the fcc phase the respective solubility of Co in Cr23C6, Cr7C3 and Cr3C2 are investigated experimentally.
