1. On multiscale modeling of pearlitic steel
Abstract : By studying pearlitic steels using a scanning electron microscope it can be observed that pearlite is a two-phase material with cementite lamellae embedded in a matrix of ferrite. The cementite is commonly described as being stiff and brittle in comparison to the ferrite which is considered to have a soft and ductile mechanical behavior. READ MORE

2. Fundamental Studies Related to Gaseous Reduction of Iron Oxide
Abstract : The demands for increasing the efficiency and lowering the environmental effects in iron and steelmaking industries have given rise to interests in application of direct reduction (DR) processes for production of iron by different gases. These advancements require comprehensive models for better control of the process conditions and the product properties. READ MORE

3. On the Microstructure and the Thermal Conductivity in Compacted Graphite Iron
Abstract : Compacted graphite iron (CGI) is a cast iron material that has gained much attention due to its attractive material properties which are intermediate between those of grey and ductile cast iron. In the automotive industry compacted graphite iron has become an interesting alternative material to grey cast iron in components like cylinder blocks or cylinder heads. READ MORE

4. Computational Multiscale Modeling of Pearlitic Steel
Abstract : The objective of this thesis is to investigate the possibilities to describe the mechanical behaviorof a pearlitic steel by using computational homogenization, or multiscale modeling. The proposed model contains three scales: the engineering macroscale, the mesoscale representing the colonies of the pearlite and the microscale containing the individual cementite lamellae and the ferrite matrix. 5. On the modeling of anisotropy in pearlitic steel subjected to rolling contact fatigue
Abstract : One of the main sources of damage caused by Rolling Contact Fatigue (RCF) inrailway components is the large plastic deformations that accumulate in the surface layerof these components. Large plastic deformations in components made of pearlitic steelinduce anisotropy in the mechanical properties of the material. READ MORE
