  1. 1. The World-Class Ordination : A Field Theory Approach to the Study of Global University Rankings

    Author : Pablo Antonio Lillo Cea; Mikael Börjesson; Emil Bertilsson; Yves Gingras; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; sociology of education; globalisation; field theory; universities; higher education; rankings; Utbildningssociologi; Sociology of Education;

    Abstract : Using Pierre Bourdieu’s field theory, this thesis explores the idea of a “world-class university” by analysing the narratives and dynamics that shape this classification in the context of global university rankings. It uses a combination of methods, including historical studies, bibliometrics, multiple correspondence analysis, and social network analysis to examine the socio-historical factors determining world-class status in higher education. 2. 2. Self-Lubricating Laser Claddings in the Context of Hot Metal Forming

    Author : Hector Torres; Braham Prakash; Manuel Rodriquez Ripoll; Paul Mayrhofer; Tomasz Liskiewicz; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tribology; High Temperature; Laser Claddings; Self-Lubricating; Hot Stamping; Machine Elements; Maskinelement;

    Abstract : Laser cladding is a coating technique with significant advantages like the high quality of the resulting layers, their excellent metallurgical bonding to the substrate or the possibility to repair/rework high-value mechanical components. In recent years, the incorporation of solid lubricants to the base powder in order to produce self-lubricating claddings has been shown in the literature to be possible, with several of the described coatings being able to operate at high temperatures with low friction and wear. 3. 3. Spatial distribution and conservation planning of seabed biological diversity

    Author : Genoveva Gonzalez-Mirelis; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spatial autocorrelation; ecological classifications; distribution modelling; biotopes; conservation planning; biodiversity surrogates; GIS; spatial ecology; benthos; fjord;

    Abstract : Knowledge of spatial patterns of biota has become a commodity for conservation practitioners and spatial ecologists alike. This type of information enables the identification of representative and unique biological features (at some nominal scale) which itself constitutes the application par excellence of knowledge of biodiversity distribution as it relates to the design of reserve networks and the realization of spatial planning. 4. 4. Security-Aware Design of Cyber-Physical Systems for Control Applications

    Author : Rouhollah Mahfouzi; Petru Ion Eles; Zebo Peng; Samarjit Chakraborty; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : With cyber-physical systems opening to the outside world, security can no longer be considered a secondary issue. In this work, we focus on security threats to control applications in cyber-physical systems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Processing and characterization of thin film field effect gas sensors

    Author : Anna Elisabeth Åbom; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MISFET; Field effect chemical gas sensors; long-term stability; sputtering; Pt; TiN;

    Abstract : At Applied Physics, Linköping University, the main interest for sensor research has been the focused on MISFET (Metal-Insulator-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors) and related devices. The gas sensitivity of MISFET’s was first reported by Lundström et al. in 1975. Today a lot of work is being done in this field. READ MORE
