21. Development of Neutron Emission Spectroscopy Instrumentation for Deuterium and Deuterium-Tritium Fusion Plasmas at JET
Abstract : The study of high power fusion plasmas at the JET tokamak has been further enhanced through the development of instrumentation for neutron emission spectroscopy (NES) measurements. This has involved the upgrade of the magnetic proton recoil (MPR) spectrometer used for deuterium-tritium plasmas earlier so that the MPRu can now be also employed for deuterium (D) plasmas. 22. Non-linear dynamics of Alfvén eigenmodes excited by fast ions in tokamaks
Abstract : The tokamak is so far the most promising magnetic configuration for achieving a net production of fusion energy. The D-T fusion reactions result in 3.5 MeV alpha-particles, which may destabilize Alfvén eigenmodes through wave-particle interaction. READ MORE

23. Low-temperature based thermal micro-grids: operation and performance assessments
Abstract : Energy use in the urban environment is vital for the proper functioning of our society, and in particular, comfort heating –or cooling– is a central element of our energy system often taken for granted. Within this context, district energy systems and especially, district heating (DH) systems must evolve to adapt to the upcoming decades-long transition towards a sustainable energy system. READ MORE

24. Drying and Pyrolysis of Logs of Wood
Abstract : This work concerns log firing in small-scale boilers for house heating, which in Sweden meets a heat demand of 12 TWh a year. In boilers used for domestic central heating in the sizes of 10 to 30 kW the predominant combustion technique is grate firing. READ MORE

25. Application of Laser-based Diagnostics to a Prototype Gas Turbine Burner at Selected Pressures
Abstract : The matured laser-diagnostic techniques of planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) and particle image velocimetry (PIV) were applied to a prototype gas turbine burner operating on various fuels. The work was performed to provide verification of computational fluid dynamic (CFD) models of the combustion of atypical fuels in a gas turbine combustor. READ MORE
