    Author : Dmitry Kobyakov; Emil Lundh; Vitaly Bychkov; Mattias Marklund; Achim Schwenk; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Binary Bose-Einstein condensates in ultracold gases; hydrodynamics; quantum turbulence; neutron stars; the inner crust; nuclear astrophysics; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : In the present thesis, “Hydrodynamics of Binary Bose-Einstein Condensates and Hydro-elasticity of the Inner Crust of Neutron Stars”, the hydrodynamic effects, instabilities and superfluid turbulence in binary immiscible ultracold gases, and hydro-elastic macroscopic coupled modes and microscopic structure of the inner layers of the crust of neutron stars, are studied. The ultracold gas dynamics can be realized in the laboratory. READ MORE

  2. 17. Influence of the properties of bio-coal as a substitute for fossil coal in carbon composite agglomerates and in coke

    Author : Asmaa El-Tawil; Lena Sundqvist Ökvist; Bo Björkman; Timo Fabritius; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bio-coal; devolatilization; bio-agglomerates; bio-coke; Centrumbildning - Centrum för avancerad gruvteknik och metallurgi CAMM ; Centre - Centre for Advanced Mining Metallurgy CAMM ; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Abstract : The iron-ore-based blast furnace (BF) process is still the most dominant method for producing metallic iron units for steelmaking, and the BF is also the main contributor to the 7-9% of global CO2 emissions which, according to World Steel Association, originate from the steel industry.  The steel industry is aiming to reduce CO2 emissions by different means. Abstract : This thesis aims to expand on the fundamental knowledge of crystal growth, selectively focusing on the area of particle-seeded nanowire growth in the III-V materials system. The growth process is complex. READ MORE

  4. 19. Improvement of the AMS-technique and applications to 3H and 59Ni Measurements

    Author : Madis Kiisk; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; accelerator mass spectrometry AMS ; development of AMS technique; 59Ni; tritium; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Kiisk;

    Abstract : Accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) is a highly sensitive technique for counting atoms. Its main advantage in comparison with radiometric methods is the smaller amount of sample required (by a factor of a thousand). The method has a high efficiency and requires only some ten mg of sample material. READ MORE

  5. 20. Fluid dynamics and mass transfer in bubble columns with and without packing

    Author : Peter Therning; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; packed bubble column; fluid dynamics; bubble column; laser doppler anemometry LDA ; mass transfer; hydrodynamics; multiphase reactor; dispersion;

    Abstract : Bubble columns are used in the chemical industry to perform gas liquid reactions, like oxidation, hydrogenation and fermentation. The objective of the present thesis was mainly to study the fluid dynamics of semi batch packed bubble columns at both atmospheric and pressurized conditions. READ MORE
